I must admit that it didn't capture me in the beginning (too detached from the comics), but boy does this series deliver in the long run... It's not 100% comic, which is both good and bad at the same time. If you don't know what I mean it's because Lucifer as a comic book series is right there along Sandman - the most hated and revered stuff at the same time. Stuff that changed comic books forever (and led to the creation of Vertigo Comics, which was only releasing comics aimed at the adult audience). Numerous court battles against Concerned Mothers of America and all that. Good stuff.
This series is a bit of a more lighthearted version of the comics. Featuring Lucifer Morningstar (the Devil himself) taking vacation from guarding hell and opening a sleazy night club in Los Angeles. He meets a captivating homicide detective and decides to help her out in her endeavors (for his own, personal gain of course).
The plot isn't the most convoluted or extraordinary stuff you've seen but the acting in the series is pretty good, there's plenty of interesting stuff, some plot twists etc. What I find most interesting about it though is that some (not all) of the humor there is very fucking intelligent and there's a lot of subtlety sprinkled around (there's plenty of jokes that I laughed out loud at but are actually "sneaked in" since they're not totally politically correct).
Anyway, I really encourage everyone to watch this series. Season 3 comes out in October (the very beginning of it).
Oh, and the music choice in it is absolutely fucking amazing. Even if you're not inclined to watch the series, definitely google the soundtrack.
