It actually removes RNG, i don't understand how people can perceive this as if there are gonna be more comebacks then there are now.

You have to look at it like this:

Pick any Tier 2 team and place it in a match versus any top tier 1 team.

Tier 2 team takes a huge risk that pays off in the first 5 minutes in which they take a commanding lead in the early game.

The top tier 1 team make better plays in the coming 15 minutes of game and that allows them to still win because of better skill and decision making

This change is 100% geared towards less snowballing from minute 5 and less upsets within matchups between teams. I don't forsee any problems with the teams playing differently if they are ahead, but it does stimulate to play better when behind.

Nope, the gold change is really huge if you are behind. I just played phantom lancer in test realm, and 2 teammates left the game so we were behind. At 12k networth difference for them I got like 800-1000 gold per kill.

This is a solokill on their carry PA by my PL, gold difference 13k, ending a killing streak. 1700 gold lol. I got a heart of tarrasque in just a few kills. It´s so weird.

Weird, but that might have been streak gold too as well. I wonder how much you would have made with the old system. I know I always am pretty loaded after a good team fight in the end game.

Agreed. People getting solo kills on carrys with 13K difference is going to be really uncommon. Getting several in row is going to be even more so.

Well he would need to level up his invis so he can't skill backstab as high. Which kind of hurts his laning.

Dunno, don't think he will be good after the patch. Probably worse than he is now, but hard to call.

riki is a pub offlane hero, he's garbage if anyone contests him in any way. he can't last hit, escape, dies to gusts of wind

you literally need to hope they just let you get level 6

Move speed nerf, -10 (!) base damage, no more escape, no more built-in bonus regen, sounds pretty shitty to me.

Edit: Fuck that, I didn't see the 8 second nerf. Yeah, he is off lane or more like bounty now. Still could be cool as a position 3 hero.

Well I don´t know. I was the highest networth and level in the game with that screenshot but due to the 2 leavers our team networth sucked. I can imagine the same scenario with some 4 protect 1 superhard carry strat, in which the 4 lose early on, other team gets ahead, but then the farmed carry can get extreme amounts of gold from kills just because his team is behind. It´s a stupid mechanic imo.

8 seconds fade time is the same as if u turn that 8 on it's side.

ham on backstab after the base damage nerf puts him still below normal auto attack damage... people just man up on him at any point before 6 and he dies. 8 second fade time is terrible

Seems sort of reasonable to me in terms of power level. Like you're trading the ability to stop the channel with the fact that it'll only take a small # of auto-attacks to get 2 hero kills.

It's not a power level issue. It's that the skill isn't consistent with other mechanics at all. It's not consistent with other pause/hiding skills (Astral/Disruption), and it's not even consistent with his own abilities (if all of the listed skills persist, why does Supernova cancel Sunray?).

I think that's a good way to make the hero useless.

The hero's only real upside now is going to be his triple Blink Strike burst damage at 6--otherwise he has no real upside compared to the old Riki--meaning how quickly he gets to 6 and with what items will hugely impact his overall usefulness to the game. Offlane levels are a good way to delay that level 6 so long as to be useless.

The problem is that he wants mid levels but is really not an outstanding mid hero.

He's like a bountyhunter in the offlane except u can't go invis on demand, you can't trade hits with weak supports, and you don't get any reward for hitting a fast level 6. Plus you don't do anything without copious amounts of gold that you can't farm.

IN other words, you can't offlane him. Or safelane him. Or mid him. Or support him. or pick him.

If you are doing a 4 protect 1 and then the 1 gets killed a couple of times, you already fucked up in the old system. Now it just punishes you more for investing so much in one hero. And normally its takes a good chunk of the team to bring down that super farmed hero, so the gold would be split.

You can see the trend that IF is taking, there is a heavy focus on making the game more spectator friendly. Balance changes have been promoting/incentivizing a more active early game and stronger comeback mechanics, both of which make for exciting games from a spectator perspective.

And everybody is taking about the Chen Aghs buff but I think he needed it. The patch was clearly targeting early push line-ups and that was Chen's only niche as he falls off really hard late game. Without a major buff to Chen he would've been relegated to trash tier. Plus it is unique and has a coolness factor associated with it which is also great from both a spectator and player perspective and a nice boost for what was historically one of the least popular heroes in the game.
