A friend of mine found a way how to appear invisible
OK, so this is how you do it.
1) Create a game (non public), be alone 2) While in game - disconnect from your router (unplug your LAN cable, or disconnect from wireless) 3) WAIT for the error (usually about 10 - 15 seconds), dont leave the game with escape, wait for the error. 4) Press OK 5) When in character screen keep spamming RESUME GAME button until you get Error 3007 (this is important), usually takes another 10 - 15 seconds. 6) When error 3007 appears, reconnect to your router, press OK on the error and resume game
Voila you're invisible (your status icon is gray).
Note - it might not work if you dont follow the steps exactly
Have fun.
PS. i really hope they dont fix this

Of course, but seeing how SC2 doesn't have this feature it most likely wont be implemented in D3 :/

It's been brought up a million times for both SC2 and Real ID in WoW, they keep insisting that we don't "want" offline mode.
Thankfully with D3 I can now "appear offline" by switching to my alt on a different region. Maybe they'll implement region choice for SC2 as well with Heart of the Swarm. That would let them avoid people whining that they had to buy WoL for each region, if only HotS accounts can play cross-region.

really annoying, especially if you have alot of friends on your list, the moment you connect youre bound to be spammed. hate that

Why don't you just tell your friends to STFU? Or not add them? It seems like an awful lot of work because you want to "hide" that you are playing right now. OFC blizz should implement something like this, but I don't get why you need it?

If you don't want people in your game, Turn off quick join and then just don't accept any part invites.
BOOM, solved.

BOOM, solved. It is about appearing offline.
You don't want people at work to know that you're tired because you played a game all night.

I think they should add an invisible mode to games because sometimes I just don't want people to see I am online.

well for now you can use this workaround, or as yeint said you can change servers. That sucks but offline mode WONT be in game, thats for sure (see SC2 for proof)

That's how Blizzard manage to pull off this kind of bullshit. They tell us what we want or do not want, and then they do whatever the hell they want. That's how they created the steaming pile of shit that is Diablo 3... "you don't want to make decisions about which attribute or what skills to pick when you level up. you want to buy shit on the auction house instead of finding items on your own."

And the workaround is about the same amount of work or less as telling your friends to shut it and it's probably much more effective.

It will never happen unless someone replace whomever is making those decisions in Blizzard. They've made this abundantly clear in WoW and sc2 without saying as much. For some reason they feel having choices are harming kittens or something.

it happens to me all the time, but it's nice to know how/why
my friend always asked me how the hell do I do that, cause his wow friends are always nagging him about going for raids and stuff

Yea I really enjoyed putting all my points into vitality and maxing out a skill and it's synergies. If the game is a steaming pile of shit, dont play the game and stay away from any of its forums since you'll never want to play it again
