set your computer to use a static ip adress most routers use dhcp by default you can still have dhcp on in the router but on your broodwar comp make sure you have a static ip. then turn on port forwarding from the router on port 6112 to your computers ip. also you can type in your broodwar comp as a DMZ server

Usually the local networks use invalid IP's, saving the valid ones for the servers (that must be accessible from outside the LAN), and the router itself (that must have at least one valid IP address and one IP address on the local subnet mask - usually number 1, i.e. 192.168.0.1 or 10.10.0.1). The default user and password depends on the router model (which one are you using? Cisco?), and yes, most routers have firewalling capabilities, although I really don't thing it's an IP port blocking issue, because the error message when port 6112 is not open is very explicit. But if that's the case, I don't see why you shouldn't open port 6112 for the whole LAN (192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0), instead of using static IP (that is unnecessarily minimal).

i have a DLink router for DSL. The best way, that i know of, is to disable your DMZ and put your own IP address there. this will put you outside of the firewall but will leave you open to hackers and theifs that can directly connect from you and really fuck you up if you wanted to. i still can't play with more than 4 people and sometimes i still get the "high latency" error, but it works much better outside of the fw.

And honestly, he people who do that shit wouldn't be able to. They'd have to give him a trojan or such and have him open it for them. I doubt he's that stupid.

OrangeTerran, all that the "31337 h4x04z" really could do is use D-O-S attacks freely [this also depends on Naz's OS]. And the probability for this is still very small :/ Why would anyone wanna hack our own little celebrity's comp. Can't figure any other reason than to get his reps ))

Allright, i had this problem at the begining of this year when i switched to DSL and a D-Link router. first off, if ur on a dlink router u connect to the router by typing the IP 192.1698.0.x. the instruction guide will tell u what the x is. You go to "Advanced" and setup a virtual server. enable BOTH protocol types, and enter port 6112 for both public and private. click "always on" and save the settings. This will enable you to play in most games created by other people. However, if there are more than two people in a game created by soemeone else you will lag it severely. If u create there are no problems. I am answering this assuming it IS a firewall issue, not a ISP or some other issue. In answer to Muhweli post, "Knight007, don't actually think it's firewall... it it'd be, he couldn't ever create or join cuz the NO packets would go through." I was still able to join some games even before i disabled my firewall. I was unable to create games though. Can you create games Nazgul? If you cannot then id say it is a clear case of a firewall issue. regardless of his ability to join games. If none of this works, or you have a different kind of router, then ur on ur own However, i think that opening port 6112 is necessary regardless of the router. Another option that was already mentioned was setting up a DMZ. This is honestly overkill, and more difficult to manage than simply opening the port DMZs would put ur comp outside the firewall, and your comp would be the ONLY admin for the network, and thus have complete control over ou roomates comps ^^ As you can imagine the temptation to block specific websites for their comps is quite great hope something in all of this jumble helps someone, even if its not naz. *sigh* now ive delayed all that im able, homework time...
