I'm not a big fan of rap. However, the other day I was listening to The Ocarina of Rhyme and my sister overheard it. My sister is a bit younger than me and is into all of that rap and other shit that people who aren't total nerds are into. She was surprised that I was listening to Jay Z for two reasons. First, because my sister is convinced that I only listen to music she hates and second because according to her Jay Z is the devil.
I grew up in a Conservative home. Both of my parents and literally 99% of my extended family are card carrying Republican Christians. Whether it's my Baptist parents or my Charismatic Pentecostal cousins I've seen and heard all kinds of crazy shit about world events and people. From, "Haiti's earthquake was caused by god cause in the 1700s the Haitians made a deal with Satan," to, "Obama is a wicked and evil man."
Now, I don't want to get into politics, just giving examples. But when I heard my sister say that Jay Z is satanic and a devil worshipper I had to fight pretty hard not to laugh. As the only person in my family who doesn't have a warped view of the world I've tried to understand that people in my family believe some crazy shit without merit. But Jay Z...worshipping satan? I'm not trying to stick up for the guy or anything, I don't much care for him or other rap artists, but honestly I've heard this shit all of my life.
So I figured I'd go find out where they got it from. Apparently it's based on sources ranging from H to the izzo V to the izza, backmasking (hilarious that people still do this), him making a triangle (which represents Free Masonry), and him calling the black man god (which is actually a branch of Islam called Nations of Gods and Earths/Five Percenters).
This is longer than I wanted it to be, but I got quite a few laughs out of it and figured other people would too. So here's a fun quote off the internet and an awesome YouTube video.
I found out dat out 2day.. In one of jay-z's songs.. If u listen 2 part of it backwords.. it means "666 murder jesus". And if u look closes.. In most of da video's dat Beyonce and Jay-z are u u see them makin a "Pyramid" sign over there left eye.. which signafies da devil! Also famous yet dead Aaliyah's name means "Dark Angel" and left eye.. Im lookin dis stuff up rite now 2 see if its true.. If it is i will be heart brokin cuz i love Beyonce and Jay-z kinda. But Aaliyah i love more than anyone!!
Haha thats funny. The triangle sighn over the eye is actually a diamond sign that signifies the label he's on, Roc-a-fella records because Rock is slang for diamond and is also a play on Roc. And if you play Lucifer the way it was intended to play (not backwards) it is actually a song about how hes going to get rid of the devil in his life. Jay-Z is a well known christian but like a lot of things some people just misinterpret things. Funny post though.
I believe a 90's ska band backwards-masked one of their songs to say "you have way too much time on your hands don't you?"
I don't know where they first got the idea, but I'm pretty sure now artists just do it intentionally just to stir up some controversy for kick and giggles.

The triangle is the ancient symbol of free masonry. Some people call it satanism, but it implies non-human personified forces which I stopped believing in. But free-masonry makes perfect sense.
I believe that Jay-Z, along with many others like Lady Gaga, Rihanna etc. may indeed be under the wings of freemasons, the folks that dictate pretty much everything on this Earth.
I've watched some pretty eye opening documentaries that really paint the picture I find very believable.
