I feel like if these events happen too often, they won't get nearly the same level of hype and support you got this time around. Also, having two back-to-back LANs means that donations to the prize pools will be split between the two. In other words, the LANs would be competing with one another for support. On top of that, I wouldn't want you to burn out from all the work you're doing. You can do whatever you like, of course. I just wanted to share my thoughts. That SKT1 jersey you were wearing was ridiculously cool, by the way. Pretty appropriate, considering that Bisu's about to come back and make up for lost time. No, we are not going to plan around a hypothetical LAN that has no set date, venue, etc. I don't think it is a coincidence that within a few weeks of us announcing the first LAN, discussions of other LANs around the USA started popping up. It is not our responsibility to keep track of other events and cede entire months just because some LAN is happening thousands of miles away and thus has a significant barrier of entry for people in the greater NYC area. We don't have concrete expectations for prize pool sustainability - it's natural that the first big event in NYC in nearly 10 years will draw a lot of attention, perhaps more than consequent ones. That is not a concern for us. We're going to keep doing what we're doing while seeking to improve the administrative elements with each iteration. The rest is out of our hands more or less. At the end of the day, more LANs is always good, and making them more spread out than the frequency at which people are willing to run them doesn't make sense to me. The amount of work that we have to do is spread out over the course of multiple months, so it's not that taxing - thanks in large part to the expense coverage we have received (I haven't done the final calculations but I believe expenses were almost entirely covered). I'll be wearing a different T1 shirt at the next one Bisu hype.

As a person who is interested in travel, Brood War, and meeting friends, I vote for sensibly taking note of other LAN events. It's not out of the question that I would fly to LA if Xeris, shindigs, GhostClaw, etc. show up. Think of it like weddings. You're gonna plan your wedding for whenever you want it. But check in with your mutual friends to make sure you don't overlap on dates. I don't know if this analogy helps but it seems like all of us are 28-33 and that's also prime wedding season. <3.

We're absolutely not going to overlap with any dates that are announced and set in stone, that much is obvious. What Shalashaska was asking us to do is delay it by months to accommodate for a LAN that hasn't even been organized, scheduled, or announced yet. That is overkill and out of the question. If we announce our date first, wouldn't they be the ones who should be accommodating us and be told to delay their LAN? The rate at which things are going now, this seems to be the likely scenario. I have kept tabs on the LA LAN thread of course, and none of the dates that are in afreeca's poll are ones we are considering, so we're all clear on that front. EDIT: You can see my post in the LA thread for reference: https://tl.net/forum/bw-tournaments/548360-tournament-organizers-in-los-angeles?page=3#54

Ofc if two lans target an entirely different playerbase, there is no need for a mutual agreement. But thats a different scenario.

This is subject to change depending on the venue situation but this is what we are aiming for and will most likely be doing.

Everyone’s settings are not the same as they’re used to, arm to chair ratios are off, room temperature drastically different, etc. Lots of variables in play for everyone and that is why some people can just be better in this type of play... anyways, think of the people who were admins and played; lack of time to set up and helping people in between, no warm up, etc. So I can assure you that it wasn’t just you It’s the beauty of a LAN though. I rather take losses not playing optimally and meet some new people and have a good time. Dude I had literally never seen remastered...

Can't wait til we get a list of who's going^^ I wish I had gotten to chat with u sugo since we have a history but a death-in-the-family text during my loser bracket match had me out the door quick. I did meet Jealous however, what a great guy. Every bit as professional and courteous in person as he is online. The highlight for me was getting my ass whooped by I believe widowmaker was his name in my first match of the day. Super cool guy, we got along perfectly, vetos were easy as hell, map choices super smooth, everything very GM and an all around great experience. I hope I run across him on bnet and get to practice with him in the future. EDIT: I hope Models comes again specifically.
