Siege mode bug/trick?

I've came across weird behavior of Siege Mode Tanks. I always thought there's a minimum necessary range for them, so when they are melee attacked they can't do much in Siege Mode. But this movie shows some strange behavior. Please note the last few shots reaching zealots being positioned just under the tanks. Can anyone explain?

ah first I was like, yeah those zeals were just in range, but then after that THEY KEPT SHOOTING WTF. I checked mini map to see if it was another tank out of sight some where but it appears as if it's just those 2 tanks and some how they manage to get shots off while zeals were on top of them.

Kinda looks like the reverse of the sunken infinite range bug

It does look like "reverse of the sunken infinite range bug". There weren't any more tanks in range I can assure You because it's my replay.

It's the same reason as the infinite sunk range bug, except with close range.

This could actually be useful when attacking a base xD

Edit: After some testing on this matter i found out that tanks seem to lock-on to a target and never shoot the zealot close to it. It helped to spam S to disrupt it then let it re-target and with some luck make it shoot the zel.

If i let the tank siege and shoot the nexus by itself and never intervene it did never hit the zel, but if i spammed S just as it was about to shoot then drop it just when zel attacked it did hit zel.

It seemed to see the zel attacking when it started to attack the nexus but after a while it stopped "pausing" showing it didnt care about the zel anymore. This is what i call "lock-on" when Tank stopped caring about the zel hitting it/them.

Seeing as how little HP Tank has and the timing of this and perfection to do it, its not a viable bug to use. Its just luck if it manage to hit a close enemy.
