All other teams look decently balanced. Stork's team has himself and SK. They don't even have a Terran.
They'd have to rely on other players and/or teams to even get any vT practice. Although I know most players are going to be practising between teams anyways, sometimes you just wanna run it with your homies and if it's prep against a T, well then you're shit out of luck.
The other 5 player teams have stronger sounding trios in comparison:
Again, I didn't watch the video so I won't comment on his supposed freak-out, but it's clear that his team is going to require strong leadership to navigate the tough road ahead. Even though his nickname is "The Commander", it's becoming evident that Stork does not have the skills needed to be that navigator.
Seems like Pusan also threw a lot of shade on the low-tier players as he drafted. "Seeing my team, I feel sorry for Flash"... "Flash will have to play at 120%"... "I think I could beat these guys [i.e., low-tier players]"...

Holy shit that game. It's like Bisu thought "what would the best strategy be if I was a robot with infinite APM" and went from there to "I'm motherfucking Bisu let's gooooo!!" Double shuttle reavers, carriers, mass corsair with D-web, A DARK ARCHON FOR FEEDBACK, and high templar casting storms basically all at the same time. Unbelievable.
Bisu is the most talented toss ever imo. If he could plan matches as well as Rain. I think he would be up there with Flash as just.... not mortal.
if someone can find me another toss in the world with that level of mechanics, go ahead.

I think the difference is that Flash/Pusan's jibes came across as more subtle, light-hearted, and truly comedic. Whereas Stork/Soulkey seemed so serious and humourless. To contrast (paraphrasing):
Flash: Oh no, I don't even have Pusan's number... Stork: Soulkey and I discussed a lot, and we realised that...
Okay, let me be more serious in my answer as well then:
Song Byung-goo said: "my position forces me to pick undrafted players" "the team has to play well, not just me" "i had planned in advance, but since thats gone now for me, i am forced to pick on what the other 7 coaches have planned allready" "the players i thought would not be picked have allready been picked" "i believe it is impossible to draft a strong team in my position"
can you please tell me where any of this is not truthful?
Song Byung-goo was forced to begin with in a position that is inferior or at least unique to the other team coaches. he had to pick himself obviously in the first round of team draft, lest not be a team captain. So yes, i can totally understand why he is upset. He reacted to this using irony, which is possibly not the best way, but anyone saying he is not being serious about it is just plain out wrong. He is adapting to the solution that your so called sponsors have decided to put him in, which to begin with, is not a professional choice at all. they where not professional about how they organized this. so why should he be professional about it? what is this, a corporate company that must follow etiquette at all costs?
the problem with this is that people nowadays place political corectness above what is the truth. He was being truthful, yes in an albeit childish way, but he is being sincere in saying "my position is a joke, and therefore i will draft players in a way that reflects this, at least we can have a nice time practicing toghether, no matter about results". isn' t starcraft about giving everyone equal opportunities? we all start with one base and four workers... well, this opportunity was not given to him.
to say that he should have done this behind closed doors, first of all, how do you know that he did not try to talk to the sponsors and the organizers? you don' t, so that thought is void to begin with.
@jinjin5000 i understand that you are simply sharing and showing to us what is being said, as most of us do not speak korean. so please understand this is not a critique towards you, but people in general who think they know better by judging this.
as i said before, and i stated my own personal opinion in this post, calling this a meltdown is a total overreaction. i think most people misunderstood the point, and delved into the good old drama, because its easier to point the finger at something that is politically incorrect, instead of looking oneself in the mirror and seeying what is the objective truth.
Sorry, no. Stork's behavior has been well documented at this point. This is not the first time. And please, you talk about "truth" but among the sentences you used as an example, I find most of them to be subjective, pointless or just down right wrong. For example, "i believe it is impossible to draft a strong team in my position", while I would argue his team is the 3rd best team on paper (depends on Stork's form). I've made my case about Stork aplenty already, so I won't reiterate but I suggest you search a bit more before saying the title is an overreaction. And using "irony"? Yeah... sure I guess, it was just a prank, bro haha!
I really don't want to be mean to you and I hope you don't take my post the wrong way. I like your passion for BW and your point about political correctness above truth. I think it's fine that you have your opinion based on what happened here but some people just know more about Stork beyond this single incident and jinjin is one of them.
The "depends on Stork's form" part is important here. Stork isn't even a top 20 player right now, let alone top 8, and the rest of the team is a disaster outside of Soulkey. I'm shocked that anyone can see it as the third-best team on paper. Even if you give Stork the benefit of the doubt and assume that he can shake off his terrible form in this team league, the rest of the team just isn't great.
Was it the best way to handle it, no. But I do think, as usual, many people are over reacting to the comments. I definitely got the sense that he was being truthful but in a tongue and cheek way. I think if you talked to the players mentioned they would not be offended. To be honest I would much rather have interesting comments in any format than the usual standard boring responses. Regardless of context. This applies to all sports for me , not just korean esports. It gets so stale watching players say the exact same thing over and over again in any sport.
This was something a friend of mine passed on so I'm posting it on his behalf so that we get more information on this situation. I personally still think Stork's behavior was childish even if the information below was all true and there were certainly better avenues he could've used in the future:
"Here's some more context on Stork's behavior at the ASTL draft based on Korean bulletin boards and his own post on this issue.
According to Stork, he was asked to be a head coach (slash player, i.e., "playing coach") on May 18th by phone. At the time, he refused the request because he felt that he was not the right person for the job but Afreeca essentially begged him to take the job. Apparently, they told him that they couldn't find anyone else and that his participation as a head coach would help the future of the league.
A group chat room for coaches and organizers was created on May 25th and Afreeca was quite non-communicative, informing the coaches only about scheduling and sponsors. All the coaches were caught off guard when they were informed on June 12th by a public announcement that the draft rules had been changed. Despite inquiries from multiple coaches, the Afreeca decided to go ahead with the draft under the new rules that coaches found out at the last minute.
The coaches arrived for the draft at 6:15 PM and everyone got together for a rehearsal around 6:20 PM (around 40 minutes before the draft). At this point, the organizers hit the coaches with another last minute rule change. Stork protested to the organizers by referencing a prior conversation. The organizers had already agreed that the original rules prior to the last minute change were disadvantageous for Stork. However, the new last minute rule changes made things even worse.
Stork tried to see if the organizers would allow the coaches to take a vote on whether to go with the newest last minute changes or not but they did not take him seriously and made some jokes about asking the casters to pick the rules. The coaches themselves were reluctant to voice their opinions, although Zeus said that he tried to add his voice to Stork's proposal. For what it's worth, it seems that Bisu had also previously complained to the organizers about poor communication related to rules and scheduling.
tl;dr
1. Stork refused to coach but was persuaded by organizers to coach for the greater good. 2. The rules put Stork's team at a severe disadvantage because he was forced to pick himself with his first round pick. 3. Organizers were bad at communicating the rules to the coaches and pushed last minute changes on them, including one at the draft itself. 4. Organizers ignored inputs from multiple coaches on the draft and laughed off any complaints prior to the draft.
You can judge for yourself whether this is an accurate picture, but it seems that Stork's story is corroborated by others."
