Light has become one of my favorite Terrans over the past two years. #1 is FlaSh, and then it’s a toss up between Light and Sharp. His play against Rain was truly inspirational.

Glad that fans are 'allowing' this one to be part of the major tournament cannon in terms Light being a champion. Too good a player for too long, and really deserves it ^_^
AdministratorHey HP can you redo everything youve ever done because i have a small complaint?

the schedule was a mess, production was near non-existent, the grand finals location was underwhelming, but boy oh boy did the games deliver.

i thought light would just tap out 0-4 after game 1, he looked the same as he had been the last decade, good but just not good enough, and not winning against protoss when it mattered. and suddenly, he just flicked a switch in his head to go full flash/fantasy tvp mode. his transformation over the next 4 games was definite proof that he had the knowledge and skills to beat any player in the world, but he just had to overcome himself first.

so fucking happy for light.

Fully agree. Especially the fact that he won the finals vs a Protoss and even on of that caliber makes his victory so much better. I think if he won the tournament by only playing TvT and TvZ it would have left a sour taste in the mouth of many here, including me tbf. It might have been undeserved but I think realistically speaking it would have happened. So yeah, really happy for him and the way he won made it even better.

Great Article, Rain threw this one away I feel though, despite Light playing so well.

Great writeup. Glad that Light finally won something and against Rain of all people. His TvP has always held him back imo so to go 4-2 was fantastic. His game on Eddy was just beautiful and overall, he was really solid. I hope this motivates him to try harder next ASL so that a new ASL Terran champion can be born! :D

Yes I think that fact that it was against Rain, probably the strongest Protoss since Bisu in his prime, makes Light’s achievement absolutely unquestionable. Very happy for Light, the first Terran not named FlaSh or Last to win a prestigious tournament since forever. I hope he continues to improve and maybe expand his build repertoire.

As an aside, who was the last Terran before light, flash, and last to win a big tournament?

Thanks for the report!

Have to say, I disagree calling ForGG, Hyuk, Zero and Mind easy opponents.

I watched pretty much only from Ro8 onwards and liked the games a lot!

Huge grats to light! I didn't anticipate this outcome, but he really played great!

if it weren't for killer and bisu, terran would have a reign of terror in the sospa days, literally all of them were kicking ass.

Thanks for the write-up. It was a fun tournament, even though it was so rushed. Really happy for Light. Hope the KSL can continue next year and make some changes so that it is as competitive and well-watched as the ASL.

Great writeup. Wanted to say I'm super happy for Light. Didn't feel quite as dominant as that one period he had in Proleague but still impressive to take it against all odds vs Rain here. Awesome to see the guy finally take one home.

No mention of the bugged replay moment? First time I'd seen that happen ever

Great finals and writeup thank you TL for again delivering such a treat! Light had truly great moments in this tournament, like the game against Mind in neo sylphid.

It was mentioned, though.

Enjoyed the write-up, but it could've been quite a bit harsher on Rain and his disappointing PvT. I guess my anti-fandom isn't really a good reason to go and make the write-up less hype, but his strategy of "bash army into entrenched position, use recall in random positions at random times, and hope my good macro compensates for this" really needs more calling out.
