In course of ongoing discussions about who the yet undefeated and infamous iCCup player dong222 is, and if it might be Scan, people put word and money on the theory that Scan wouldn't be able to defeat kogeT 14 to 0 in a Zerg versus Terran (Scan off-racing as Zerg), just like dong222 during his flawless winning streak did. Both, Scan and kogeT, are willing to find that out!
As far as rules and conditions go, please leave all your ideas and suggestions in the comments!
Format:
Matchup: (Z) Scan vs (T) kogeT
Rules: Scan must win 14 matches in a row to win the prizepool; kogeT can take it from him by winning 1 match. A draw gets voided.
Maps: 11x Fighting Spirit, 3x Jade (same as kogeT played vs dong222)
Prizepool: $120 go to the winner of the challange!
Streams: BisuDagger, FlaShFTW and iloveav all offered to cast. I will notify all casters as soon as a time is set. In any case BisuDagger will cast the replays, but if latency and time allows one of them might also be able to livecast.

If the game is balanced and they are actually close to skill then it would be very improbable that Scan would win 14:0 considering the ZvT matchup's statistics and map statistics. Otherwise, this isn't even a real showmatch cuz it would be like an A+ iCCup player playing vs a B rank player or something.

Both players are very high skilled and by iCCup ranks it would be more like A+ vs Olympic. In my opinion Scan has an clear edge in skill, especially in their offraces, but imo Scan, really both players, would need to give it their all and thus make for some interesting matches.
To me, seeing Scan as a clear favorite, it would be exciting to see if kogeT really can take a game from him and the conditions would be somewhat justified.
But yea, you're right, it enables a lot of ground for discussion if that's fair and what not, but at the end that's really up to the betters/donors.
e/ I don't know what kogeTs Fish rank is or if he's even laddering there.

Isn't KogeT main Terran so he isn't offracing?

From what I figure he only plays/played Terran instead of ZvZ. He might play Terran a lot more by now, but I'd say for both players it's an incredibly strong off-race.

Koget used to play Zerg at a very high level back in TSL days, but he recently switched to Terran in all matchups and is still like E rank on fish.

Date and time please. If you sends reps, ill cast this on my Tuesdays casts.

Funniest match ever. The guy going 13-1 loses. lol
|
koget is 100% terran and has been for like 2 years or something. I favor koget here, taking 1 game out of 14 should be doable lol
|
Can we donate to raise the prizepool?

Awesome! Will definetely notify you as soon as things are set.

Absolutely! Raising the stakes is very welcome, but as a little disclaimer: exact conditions of the showmatch might not have 100% settled yet.

I didn't know that. I'll leave the op as is for now though.

Make it mandatory to play all matches even if Scan loses at some point during the 14 games.
|
wow this community is awesome
|
I would also lobby that the OP be updated. I dunno if its some sort of TLPD auto formatting but having them playing in the showmatch the opposite of what is bolded next to their names is quite confusing especially since I knew before I opened the thread what races they said they were going to be playing.
Agree with Jealous they should play all 14 IMO.
Scan is obv quite good but kogeT only has to take 1 game out of 14 to spoil Scan's efforts so it will be interesting.

I haven't played brood war in many years, who is Scan? And I didn't realize the gap between good foreign players and Koreans was so far. Like, I realize foreigners don't fair well against Korean pros... Blizzcon comes to mind when the only person who seemed to put up a decent game was Testie vs Bisu. But for an A- ICCup guy getting 14-0'd seems really silly to me.

A- on iccup now is approximately F rank on fish (which you start at, similar to D on iccup, if you can maintain F fish you can probably make A- iccup). Scan is B rank on fish, koget im not sure if he plays fish but maybe D? so several ranks lower. So you could compare it to an A- iccup guy 14-0ing a C- iccup player, which I think is easily possible. Although, at higher ranks there is less margin for error as there would be with the A-/C- situation, and also scan is offracing so I say koget will take it.

Uh that is insane. What ranks are below F on Fish?
