chava, a lot of the people who payed to play actually are the kind of people who would only play something like wsl/wgtour/a tournament for a chance at a prize, "because it involves playing a lot of newbies" (hovz voice). a lot of people quit playing wgtour a long time ago but that doesnt mean they sat out world dream tour, team liquid tour, and wsl. those same people come back for anything with a cash prize because it's a real chance for them to compete, when none of them (almost) play wgtour seriously anymore.

imo giving a bigger prize (like 1000+ moniez) would make for a huge tournament anyway. i would love to see the best players from around the world all playing the same ladder =P. if they made the prize larger it would generate more interest and get more people to sign up which would give them more money etc.
they could make the prize a lot bigger but they could also keep somemoney for the site without hurting the prize in that case
