I just found this band the other day...this is...a KOREAN Melodic Death Metal band.
I nearly spit out my drink when I saw that photo...seeing Asians with the long hair and all metal'd up just looks sooo wrong...lol.
Anyway, as a fan of metal (melodeath is one of my favorite subgenres), and as a Korean, I was sooo excited when I found these guys, so I immediately downloaded their albums. Unfortunately, they were together only long enough to release two albums. I've listened to both now.
That is their second and unfortunately last album, "Infliction ov the Morbid Intention". I'll do a quickie review:
I have to say...the music is actually...GOOD. It's enjoyable and entertaining. Very fun and catchy dual/dueling guitars. Their tone and production quality is very good (something that doesn't happen often even in Europe). This is nice, as you can actually hear the bass and drums. That's right...you can actually hear the bass! That's a novelty in the relatively underground metal world.
The music, however, isn't anything particularly new or innovative. It's along the same lines as the old At the Gates style that everyone's ripped off. You can hear bits of influence from all over, from Amon Amarth to old In Flames. However, the songwriting is solid, and as mentioned before, entertaining.
Even if it's nothing new, they do the stereotypical melodeath style well. So well, in fact, that I would venture to say they do it better than most bands out of Sweden do it (the home of Gothenburg, which is arguably the home of melodic death metal).
If you like this kind of music at all, I HIGHLY recommend you give it a listen. It's a lot of fun, and may be the refreshing album you need to remind you why you love this genre so much. The fact that they're Korean, which has a negligible metal scene, only makes it that much more fun to listen to. I only wish they wrote their lyrics in Korean.
My arbitrary numeric rating: 8/10.
(Would have been 7, but they get an extra point for being Korean.)
