Hello all,

I wonder what http://cafe.daum.net/ is? It's something like myspace, facebook? Seems to be a very big site in S.Korea.
Maybe someone might enlighten me?

There are also pages of korean clans... I think everybody can create an own page there?

I think Koreans call "café" these community sites.
The progamers call their fansites "fan café"

According to wikpedia:
Daum started the forum service DaumCafe which brought its firm status in the market. The term cafe and even internet cafe (Different from what is supposed to refer to in western usage) is now used as the synonym for "Internet forum" in Korean.

I think it's more like a fan club site? and I believe Cyworld (mentioned in the recent savior/boxer interview) is the Korean answer to myspace/facebook etc.

Daum cafe's can be made for anything.
Your own personal club/group with friends, fan club sites, etc.

Cyworld is more like a very personal facebook/myspace (but it's so much better fyi).

oh, this is a very interesting discussion, in fact every clan page has its replay section, but we can't download them cuz we need to be registered, i've always wondered if it was possible use a shared account for this purpose.....

myspace/facebook is the Western answer to Cyworld/Daum

This! Cyworld is pretty awesome. It's like a super-advanced facebook and pretty much every Korean (esp girls) between the ages of 18-30 have a page. It's a pretty common question to just ask, 'whats your cyworld address.'

Also, cyworld has 'cafes' too, but it calls them clubs.
