Browser problem

Hello

So last week, I decided that my PC was due for format after a year. I install XP with SP3 (first time i've been running sp3). I installed the latest opera, and firefox (as i have for every other previous format) and a download manager.

The problem;

Pictures: Half-load, lots of errors in the picture show up

Downloads: pdf files come out corrupt/half working, exe's corrupt/not complete.
Youtube: Freezes after about 3 seconds (yes latest flash is here)

You get the idea.

Things i have tried;
I have uninstalled, deleted the folders, re-installed. Tried IE, tried chrome, tried kmeleon even.

I think the problem comes from the download manger? since it is the 'downloading' aspects of the browser that stuff up. Webpages 99% of the time, work. (the odd time i have to refresh because i see retarted code instead of the page itself)

Is there anyway i can fix this problem without formatting again?
Im sure uninstalling + deleting a folder isn't enough to completely wipe out evidence of the browser there. And the fact that this happens with internet explorer too means there is something not right.

Any ideas?

try firefox, if it works on firefox, then get rid of opera.

THE FOLLOWING APPLIES ONLY TO FIREFOX!

Try going to Tools > Options and then from there on make sure that JavaScript is turned on and pages and images load automatically.

Also, just try downloading an add-on theme and seeing if the same problem occurs. Or maybe you have the AdBlockPlus or Noscript add-on. Try disabling those two (if you have them).

Of course, you could always try scanning w/ anti-virus/anti-spyware although I'm pretty sure that won't do anything.

Additionally, check to see that your download manager is up-to-date. If you want, you can just delete it since Firefox/Windows has it's own basic download manager. If you must, I recommend Download Accelerator Plus as a download manager.

Check for the most up-to-date versions of your SP3 since the copy you obtained could have been counterfeit?

Furthermore, you could - AS A LAST ATTEMPT - delete and create a new user account (the ones you use for logging on and etc...) which would basically be a more minimal form of reformatting your computer.

EDIT: From looking at the sample picture, I can sort of tell that maybe your graphics card/driver is causing the problem. The messed up layouts and colors wouldn't have been due to an unresponsive script, so it's probably an out-of-date graphics card?

Yeah it is not just images that is the problem, dls + youtube too. But yeah that is all fine.
I don't use any plugins.
And i never use any anti-viruses, if it was a virus i would have noticed that instantly.

I used this same copy of slip streamed sp3 on my laptop, it worked fine there.

I shall try this but i don't have any accounts, i just have my own admin account and that is it.

But that doesn't explain the fact that the picture loads fine other times, and other pictures load consistently, nor does it explain why downloads like pdf/exe's corrupt.
