I think the Search function is pretty cool but its missing one very important point.
You cant search for user's posts
Sure you can enter the search string and a username
BUT
you cant search for EVERY post that user made.
For example: I see a user and think "wow good post". Then i want to see what other posts he made here @tl.net.
or
I see someone banned but he only has about 3-10 posts and the post i look at isn't offensive, then it would be interesting to know why he was banned so i need to see his other posts.
I have no chance to do that.
So i think it should be added that when you enter a username and leave the search string box blank it should every posts with that username without checking for certain words.
Another solution: A "posts that user made" option could be integrated in the profile of every user.

Where's the "meh" or "what ever" option?
I really don't care about this, since I don't see a use for it for a normal member.
It might have use if you're an admin though, to see the overall posting habits of the user(if he's a flamer/contributing/other etc.)
Or when we have those TL "purges" =D.

I'm pretty sure admins do have that ability.

I think the fear was trolling of users mainly.

Well, it would also be nice to let all users see other people's posts to determine whether a person is quality worthy anyways. I don't like to respond to people that are trolls, etc.

Iccup hack discussion:
Python_max is working on iCCup antihack 1.4
I don't know anything about him
He has 6 posts.
---> I want to check his other posts to see who he is/what he does for the community.
i expect posts which explain something about antihack or news about it.
i used search with "iccup" and "hack". no success.

those are fairly poor reasons for adding that, considering how many users and how many posts there are on tl.net
if its a good post, its probably good in its context or its topic relevance. and then what?
if someone was banned, he was probably breaking one or several of the commandments. you really dont NEED to see his other posts, and the reason can be found on the automated banned list

or it could as simple as him not having any other posts on the subject. and if it were big, it would have its own topic and/or a bigger discussion going

i listed some little reason and it shouldnt be the only reasons to enable it.
I think there's often a situation when you want to see other posts.
Maybe others can posts some of their reasons
And i mean when it has no bad points to enable it, i don't see why they should not.

lol, someone this week quoted an irrelevant post I made from a different thread to flame my character. Imagine if they did that with all of my post history... Amazing. It didn't even make me look bad, but the fact that he went out of his way to find one of my posts from another thread to insult my character was a little over the top.
TBH, I agree that I'd like this function, but I admit that on forums that do have this function, you get people making long lists of quoted posts to request ban. I think that the moderators here are active enough that they don't need that help, and moreover, they don't want that help.

well if this function is added to everyone profile and people making quote-lists to request a ban of someone they should just be ignored.
I think the admins can decide who they ban themselves.
This shouldn't be a reason not to add it.
I've seen this funktion in many other forums (also not bw related forums) and it works well.
Honestly i never saw someone quoting another user and BMing him...
Another point is that: If someone wants to flame, he will. Even if the feature doesn't exists.
And then he gets banned like every other user.
I dont really think its much of a problem.

How you got to 23-3 when one page has <20 posts I will never know. Stop citing it.
If it happens, people will turn into junior moderators. You should see how many PMs I get already from people wanting bans. I can only imagine what Manifesto7's inbox is like... If people are allowed to track down post history's, the pseudomoderating will be insane for a bit.
However, it is really nice in following someone's posts and seeing their content.
Either way I don't care, I'm just explaining why it isn't as simple an issue as you think it is.
