It seems like there's a few people on TL who compete or competed in forensics. I know incontrol went to NPDA this year, plexa just got back from some kind of nationals (APDA?), tasteless used to compete in NPDA, and grandinquisitor too. Is there anyone else?

I didn't compete this semester for a bunch of reasons, but I'll be starting out next season at the 08 CAL opener. The one semester I was on the team though, it was a blast. I've never worked harder in my life, or felt as proud as when I placed in an event.

So, anyone wanna share some personal forensics thoughts and experiences?

Probably the most interesting debate I've seen is one where a CS Long Beach team ran an eroticism K where they started by acting out an orgasm. Ya, they literally got up and started stroking themselves and moaning. The argument was that gov couldn't have solvency because whatever policy they enacted, they could never give people personal liberation, or some shit like that.

Another memorable one was when, as opp, the government deliberately came up with some kind of crazy interpretation. My partner and I took the bait and ran 8 minutes of topicality. It turned out, gov had planned on this and had prepared an 8 minute, subpointed rebuttal to every standard we could throw at them. We lost, but ended up breaking anyway =).

odd use of the word "forensics" but then again I am a victim of my sphere of influence and this living language..

yeah that long beach team is awesome. paterno is fairly hot too

Some teams were running space lizard politics as a seudo poly DA.

I used De-Dev a lot and loved my K's

zomg critiques are kinda gay just a bit. I've done policy debate my last 3 years in high school. I've decided to not do it again my senior year but it was a pretty fun thing to do.
