My hard work this past season has finally paid off. Today I bowled a 249, crushing my previous high game of 237. It consisted of 6 in a row, followed by a spare, a strike, a spare, a strike, and a spare. I don't remember the exact pin combinations, but I do know that I nailed the 10 pin a couple of times... proof that my investment in a plastic ball (the White Dot) was worth it.
My team is currently in first place in our bowling league... and that's with me bowling somewhat poorly during official games. I'm worried I'll bowl poorly tomorrow after having good scores today on practice, but such is life.
I'm also starting to research new bowling balls for when I take my Battle Zone Missile out of commission at the end of this season. Ideally, I want one similar to the one I'm using now, but I'm also open to suggestions. Let me know if you have any advice to offer, even if it's just on how to do the research properly. Thanks.

I have a question about bowling balls - you've been saying that you are replacing your ball. Is this because your style changed, or because it is getting worn? Do bowling balls wear out? If you're not changing your style, and it does not get worn out, why replace it? How are more expensive bowling balls better?

i remember my first 249. congrats and hope you can make it to 263

Umm I don't exactly remember that game that well. I think I had like 2 opens that game. And yeah my high game is 279. I had 6 in a row twice last Thursday. Rolling 126 229 218.

How are more expensive bowling balls better? They do get worn out. For example, the finger holes on my ball are starting to get cracked... which eventually becomes dangerous. The fingertips get worn out quickly, but those can actually be replaced.
Edit: btw, upgrading your arsenal actually can benefit you, even if the balls you have aren't wearing out. More expensive balls typically are better (for strikes), and it's also always good to diversify your collection in preparation for various oil conditions, if you can.

263 is obviously the next common landmark after 249

i hate it when something is so special to you, like an achievement or something, and you share it online and a bunch of americans always come along and say 'yeah, pretty standard' etc . Americans do it all the time. They are so good at sapping the magic out of things it hurts .

At least we're not hoplophobic.
I think the best I ever did was somewhere around a 250. I hadn't bowled in years, and went with some friends to celebrate a new friend I'd made at my old job when she turned 15. I got probably the luckiest streak of strikes ever. Then all of a sudden I started sucking.
