I can't handle it anymore, I might not find a cheater's way out as people have done it(his past exams are the same as his current one, if people have friends that have took him before, they could just copy the test since it was open notes/book). The first test, I bombed solely on I had no idea what I was doing. Completely I felt it was insanely hard and cumbersome. But the last exam, I got it back today. I was surely I passed it but got a 60. Many people, and some of my friends who cheated got 90+ I'm not saying I am jealous or whatever because I understand physics in most of the fundamental concepts by failing it, but since I don't want to further decline my GPA, I have decided to drop it. It feels to me that this semester I have either hard professors or I am becoming rather stupid as of late. All of my classes, I have had problems with. Dropping physics will make me retake it, which I do not want to... But I have to. If I could take the first test again, I would pass it, without a doubt in my mind. But I cannot do that, so it's worthless to me. I don't know what to do right now, I have a F currently in the class, what should I do? Advice?

Poll: Drop or not to drop?
(Vote): Drop and retake it with a better professor
(Vote): Don't drop and see if you can get a crazy high grade on finals

That sucks man, I blew ass at high school Physics, so I share your pain. >.>

I'd do what you think is best, if you can end the class with an acceptable passing grade, it may not be a bad idea to do so, but if you think you're going to end the semester with a F, you may as well drop it.

If you do though, make sure you acquire a text book or something, and try to pound the fundamentals into your head, so you're ready to take it next semester (new teacher or not).

Either way, I wish you the best of luck.

if his tests are the same, why the fuck wouldn't you look at them?

are you going to college for the education or the degree?
because if it was for the educaiton, you'd be passionate about physics and get the A anyway

1. I need someone to have the test. Which I don't.
2. I am going to college for the education AND the degree, I'm trying to balance out my routine, it's hard but whatever. I have no idea about physics until this year. Maybe if you went to this professor's lectures and whatnot, you'd understand how he taught it. He lectured about the book, basically, I sat in class and read the book while he lectured on it. Whatever the case may be though, I just ... blah.

Failing tests stems from lack of understanding. Lack of understanding stems from either insufficient work or poor teaching. You have to decide on whether the problem lies in yourself or your professor. Consider the fact that when you have trouble understanding anything, it's up to you to fix it, perhaps with the help of your professor. Even a bad professor could be overcome with hard work, but if there is a better one available you might want to try that.

Physics is definitely an attainable science, especially at the level of problems which I've seen you post (if I remember correctly). You just have to see where your lack of comprehension is coming from.

Is this high school? Because if its college, you might want to look very carefully at when the courses are offered. If you need to take the physics series, then its possible that dropping this would set you back a year. So just check out the scheduling and what you plan to take when before you drop anything.

Don't drop it. It won't mess up your GPA because when you retake it it replaces your previous Grade, so by sticking with it you can at least see all the material the course has to offer so you are better prepared the next time around. Either way you will have to retake it, sticking with it will help you in the long run.

Fail at physics = fail at life!!!

Just kidding, it's just that I've been studying physics for the last 5,5 years.

there are good profs and bad. some have styles more compatible to your learning. if retaking the class at a later time isnt detrimental to your grades, that is the best possible solution. why hit your head against the wall, it isnt going to budge.

No one here can give you the answer you're looking for, especially with the information from this. What major are you, year, etc.

If this is intro mechanics, drop and retake. If you don't grasp the first few chapters well, it only goes downhill from there.

it sounds like you're in intro to physics? if that's the case you have no excuse failing it. nearly any textbook alone is entirely sufficient for physics at that level.

if you put some work into it starting now you'd know your shit by the finals

As to retake the tests. Obviously you cant retake the exact same test, so maybe the professor has an a,b,c,d version of the test, or maybe you or the professor could come up with some questions on the spot.

Stay with it if you plan on retaking the class. Next time you take it the higher grade will replace the lower grade.

It's being offered again next semester but I'm taking electrical courses instead, these BS courses I can take later. I want to get the heavy duty crap out of the way first.

My GPA is currently a solide 3.0somethingsomething, if I end up doing crap here, it will drop my GPA for sure as the class is a 4credit course.

If you've decided to drop it already, then drop it. No point in gutting it out and scraping a shitty grade unless the class is crucial (as in it's a prereq for other classes you have to take next semester, etc). This is still general physics, it's not like upper division physics where if you fuck up once, you're set back a whole year. Just make sure you prepare well for next semester.

I dont know how seriously you take high school at the moment, but here is my advice:
if you dont think the high school is serious ( what i think ); take your chances and get a good grade on the final, cheat if you must, but i'd rather study very hard than cheat.

if you think the high school is serious enough for you, rather drop it and retake it; you'll learn what you've missed and make it stone solid. After all, if you're serious, thats what will benefit most to you
