Long time no see TL,
My last and only blog post was about 5 years ago, I was very much into Starcraft 2 but was always just short of reaching Grandmasters. In those years since that post, I focused on school and earned a degree in finance, internships in the wealth management industry, jobs in customer service and accounting, and a relationship with a wonderful girl. I stopped playing SC2 halfway through Hots, and when Day[9] stopped posting content it was hard to keep at it, as I didn't have rl friends into Starcraft 2 like I was.
While playing SC2, Brood War was always that game that seemed so mysterious. I played in the early 2000's on N64 and on PC, then again in high school for a short while but never anything serious. Fastest Map and BGH.
With the release of SC:R and more importantly the return of Day[9] to the Brood War scene, its time to learn again. My last blog post was about achieving that goal of becoming a decent player, and I'm ready try with Brood War. It's harder and more taxing to play, but feels so rewarding when everything goes just a little bit right. Right now my MMR averages about 1400 with about 200 games played.

I love posts like these when the player has actually already played the game somewhat. So many other posts go along the lines of "I want to become a progamer but I have only played a few games online, haven't watched any of my own reps, and I didn't complete the campaign. Can someone watch my replay where I don't know why I lost? His Zerglings just ran between my Depots and killed my SCVs even though I right clicked on each Zergling," etc.

What is great about BW is that you land in a default channel, where you can meet new people, chat, play, and obs.
Talk to some people in the channel, try to find people around your skill level and form a group so you can play each other for fun and improvement. It's easier and faster than playing ladder and trying to improve alone by yourself. Also find 1-2 players that are better than you, so you can play vs them here and there to gauge your improvement and to get advice from them.

Hey yo, welcome back. I remember playing with 30-40 year olds when I was a sophomore in high school back in 2000...
Keep it up...
But don't take it too far. It activates your lizard brain.

So keep making yourself play!
I don't play p like I did in 2000, i play z, but yeah, cool your ditching gm for broodwar!
