First Brood War Remastered Ladder Game

JamesT United States681 Posts September 02 2017 02:53 GMT #1 For some context, I've played Brood War on and off since about 2006 maybe (I don't quite remember when I started) and started as a protoss building mass cannons vs the ai and sometimes winning with massive carrier fleets (darn plague and scourge), but since the release of Starcraft 2 I swapped races around eventually landing on zerg in Starcraft 2 because it was different unit production wise and terran in SC:BW because I like vultures Anyway I was bored while waiting for GSL tonight so I decided to play an SC Remastered ladder game because why not. I loaded up to a TvT on Arcadia where I was bottom left and my opponent was top right, I build my first few scvs, a supply depot, and a barracks. After the barracks finishes i build a bunker in the front of my natural to try to slow down vultures that might try to run by, or at least I thought it was in the front of my natural. In actuality I put it right where I would need to place my natural CC, so the logical thing is to go 3-fac vulture from here right? Whether or not it was the correct decision that is what I went with, put a machine shop down on one of them to research vulture speed and start pumping them out. I get about 8 vultures by the time it finishes and start rushing to the other side of the map to try to make up whatever ground I have lost. I get over there and there is a marine, a vulture, a couple of wraiths, and an unsieged tank. I kill the marine and vulture to run into the mineral line and my opponent ggs and gives me the victory! TL;DR I put a bunker on my natural CC spot, killed 2-port wraith opponent with 3-fac speed vulture. 10/10 would put bunker on natural spot again

First base I scout on a four player map seem to be empty so I send my probe to scout another main. Turns out the terran was right there and I didn't push my probe into the main far enough. When my probe gets to the final main and there is no base I freak out and immediately add a second gate. I then re-scout to the correct base and see the terran push out with fd. Despite scouting that I have two gate ranged goons he pushes all the way across the map while expanding. I surround his push with ranged goons and then kill his CC and he gives up. If I had stayed on one gate I probably would have just expanded and gone into a macro game.
