Questions about Seoul

In the picture: maybe me in a few weeks time

Since a bunch of guys made me jelly by going to Korea and catching some real live StarCraft (SSL10 and KSL) matches, I've felt great injustice in the world and now I feel the need to dispense some justice. Off to Korea!

Ok, now that I got that out of the way, here's the real story. So me and my family are going to travel to Seoul on May 14 this year for what has become a yearly trip abroad. It's our first time going to Korea so I'm curious if that time is a good time to go to there. Is it going to be cold enough (for people from a tropical climate) that we'll need some warm clothes?

Another important thing, is going to Yongsan OGN stadium (hopefully there are matches when I arrive lol). Is it hard to find? I can read Korean characters but other than that all I know right now is annyeong and kamsamnida. haha

Any suggestions on must see sights? Preferrably near Seoul as we'll only be there for 3 full days. How about good places to eat? Nothing too fancy, just good places with good food. How about places to buy smartphones and miscellaneous stuff like clothes? Are places in Jongno-gu good for this?

May is a great time to visit! It'll be warm but without the terrible humidity.

Good food is everywhere, but I would hit up markets like Gwangjang market. As for sights there are of course tons and it depends a lot on your interests. There are several trails you can hike for fantastic views and of course plenty of museums. I really like the War Memorial Museum.

If you go to Yongsan there is a huge electronics market in the same building. There is also a famous jjimjjilbang close by.

Will phones bought there be easily configurable into say, English? I'm trying to learn some Korean before we get there but with only around a month to go, it looks a bit hopeless. ^_^

Not sure if you'll be fine with light jackets or need warmer outerwear. You'll have to judge by average measures for May

A light jacket will be fine in May. You can find Yongsan extremely easy. They are literally set up in the subway station. Just go to the subway and go to the top floor. Also, everything in Seoul is in English so you are fine. I lived there for over 3 years and I never had a problem going anywhere, even though my Korean is pretty bad still.

Judging from the link nights/early mornings might actually be a bit colder for us. I think that was the temperature range we had when we went to Hong Kong and we needed some light jackets to be comfortable.

I'm not actually too worried about Hangeul, just about the building itself being easy to spot or not. Once again thanks!

Going with family and going with your friends/solo are totally different things. It won't be as fun with your fam unless they're cool as hell, but good luck anyway
