Phalanx's Daily #66: PvT, Oracle harrass

Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.


Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.


Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.


Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.

I open up with the build order of 9pylon, 13 gate, 15 assimilator (2x), 16 pylon, 17 cybernetics core, then after the stalker and MSC is made, stargate. The fast gas had been a problem for me as of recent because I basically had no other use for it... since the build was designed to be for a fast stargate, ya know.



I scouted a gas first from the terran, but instead of a reaper his first thing to build was.... a reactor. Why? I can't tell. He made an expansion a bit later on, with a couple of widow mines defending too. Perhaps he was hoping to go for a fast widowmine drop, or maybe he scouted me and interpreted my late expansion as a sign of some fast aggression. He even made an extra bunker unnecessarily.
My first oracle arrived around 7 minutes, immediately picking up 5 kills. A bit of mis-micro over the marines lead to it getting very low on health, making future harrass a bit harder.


Noooo commander why you do this!

I get into a massive income advantage while being at about 10~ or so minutes in the game, having killed off a few SCVs and forcing a viking from the terran. My tech of choice is colossus with a few phoenix sprinkled in to defend from vikings. I slowly started to tech towards templar tech as well, expecting a huge number of vikings, but that came a little bit slower than i would have liked. All my stuff is so gas intensive


My OCD is acting up at that robo...

The first few phoenixes that I made manage to intercept a drop quite nicely, and mess up a bit by losing a phoenix in the process, but at least I took no probe damage.

The terran army shapes up pretty nicely, with a few ghosts for EMP, and many many vikings to kill off colossi. He also has a good deal of blueflame hellbats... A pretty good army, except that he had no medivacs at all. Even if he won the engagement (spoiler alert!) he wouldn't have the steam to keep on going.



i fail hard in my engagement, running my phoenixes in to their death before I engaged... >< I also get off very few storms. As usual, I seem to get my whole colossus army decimated. Now, as usual, it's time to make a comeback with my amazing bank of gas.


If I actually kept my colossi alive it must be so much easier to win...

40 supply deficit? no problem, I'll just stay alive with storms!!! And that I do. I have 4 bases up already and so I manage to buy myself enough time to simply rebuild... If the terran player came at me with all of his forces after that engagement I probably would have lost, but as it was he only brought about half of his army while the rest idled at his base.



My moment to come back comes as the terran scans for my army. In that moment his attention is on his scans - which don't see any of my army. My army was positioned right next to where his army was standing still, for a moment too long. My army jumps on to his, and he is caught out of position. Storms fly all over the place, smashing his forces away.


1 moment of unattention, that's all it takes in StarCraft2...

The game lasts for a while longer, but the rest of the game is basically me cleaning up his bases and units. I send in zealot warpins to crush his economy while my main army gets right up into his production. He proceeds to BM me for a while.
