[H]Windows 8 language settings

ahswtini Northern Ireland22212 Posts February 08 2013 16:31 GMT #1 Heyho, so I couldn't think of a better place to post this. I'm running Windows 8, and I can't get rid of the US Keyboard. This is what my language bar looks like: As you can see, there's the US keyboard option at the bottom. And I can cycle to it and activate it, which is annoying. Here's a ss of my language settings: No trace of the US keyboard. What do I do

Zocat Germany2229 Posts February 08 2013 16:44 GMT #2 Add English US via "add a language". Then you're able to remove it, and it will be removed from the language bar as well. The problem though is, it will most likely reappear again, since some program is doing this (I read that i.e. the SDL lib is responsible for it, though never tested it). And you have to do the adding & removing every single time. So if it does happen again (wait for it!) you can mess around with the registry (typical "if you mess around with the registry you can fuck your system" warning). Rename HLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Keyboard Layouts\00000409 to something like HLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Keyboard Layouts\00000409a And it wont happen again.
