Need Movie Making Advice

Hey guys, I've decided to embark on a little pet project, probably this summer or when I have, but I'd like to know what I'm getting to first.

So I was going over my blog today due to sheer boredom, and someone said that I should "write a script for an indie movie along the lines of this" or something like that...and I figured, you know what? I should.

Therefore...

I'm gonna do it! :D With me as the male lead, and here's where I need a ton of help.

I did a lot of cinematography for friends and things of that nature...but now I'm on the other side of the camera. I'm really good at lying, but I'm surprisingly terrible at acting. For some reason, it just seems "forced' when there's a camera there. Not something to be proud of, but eh...

Anyway, one of my friends is majoring in film, I might ask him to direct.

Now, the biggest problem. I need people! How do I get people to help me out? I need the guy holding the microphone [I despise the microphones on handheld camcorders], I need an actual Korean girl that can play the part, and I need a bunch of lights and things of that nature...

Any advice would be appreciated :D

Got a local film school near you? A lot of students will be hankering to get technical experience. And there are always actors around looking for work or experience - getting the right one for your project, though, can be hard.

What's your equipment like? You probably know that professional equipment is super expensive. Definitely get an external mic and a boom if you can - it'll be cheaper than almost everything else, including lighting equipment, and good sound quality will make a huge difference to the final project.

Acting is difficult - if you get the time, read some Stanislavsky, and work with your director, who ideally should know how to get performances out of people.
