So I have officially almost done 3 weeks worth of C++, about 1-2 hours worth a day. I am not having any problem understanding what I am learning, the real difficulty is implementing it in a program.

For example While I understand arrays on what they do (aka array[2][3] which would be 2 columns with 3 numbers or 2 arrays with 3 numbers each).

I understand what everything I am learning does, now it's again implementing it. Right now this is the really hard part that I am still trying to figure out. I pm'd a guy who knows C++ and he told me this is normal (which gave me a breath of relief LOL). The normal being understanding what things do but not being able to implement them into ideas... yet.

So as I continue the adventure of learning and understanding I make sure to do practice and always review what I learned so I don't forget what I have learned. This is very interesting and pretty fun learning and I can only imagine how much more fun it is once you understand how to implement it in a game idea or program.

Not to much to write here, although I have been able to make a couple programs that I thought were cool when I messed around with code.

Not really a hard one, but I made a very, very basic program where you register and put a password. Then after that you have to login. If you don't put the correct username and password you put it will not let you in. So if you put your username as bob, and password as password but you missed one of those it would give you an error message when attempting to log in.

I was happy when I figured this out and while it wasn't difficult so to speak, it was cool that I was able to do it.

So again not to much to update here, the past 2 weeks I have learned about arrays and just now getting into pointers and am looking forward to continuing.

I am also happy to note that I have again done this every day, which is good that was my main concern was me getting lazy or something and not doing it for a day, but glad to see I will not allow myself to do that ^_^.

I will say though I do wish I knew people who programmed so I could ask them questions if I ever need to or just talk about it in general, but oh well one day I shall find some programming friends :D

I am hoping the next blog will be a bit better and I will be able to show case some of my new found knowledge in programs, but as of right now nothing really interesting to show. Not sure if I will update next week or in 2 weeks, guess it really depends on my progress and what I learn. Cheers!

God speed to you sir.

I have been working on a project recently too and saw "C++" on the sidebar so I checked it out. Glad to see other people are working on stuff

If you want to discuss programming with other people you can always chip in on the big programming thread here on TL. There is also r/learnprogramming or just r/programming on reddit.

It's also fun to read a few programming blogs. It doesn't have to be c++ specific blogs, but anything that discusses challenges and general programming themes can only help.

The only thing there is to do about your implementation problem is to just try it! Seriously, practice makes perfect, it will come. If you remember anything about the programs you made in java once, try and implement them in C++. Although this may be overly complex to attempt now. Another good resource is project euler (www.projecteuler.net). It has a lot of problems that you can solve by programming. Many people like to hate on it and say that it teaches bad programming, I don't think it does as long as you know that the problems posed there are not typical of general problems. They are more general computing problems, but they can still help you learn the intricasies of your chosen language. Try to complete a problem in the most elegant way, or using the least amount of lines. There are possibilities for VERY ugly solutions, trust me.

Good luck learning, programming is awesome!
