So, I was on twitter last night just reading my TL when i learned one of my football teammates who missed practice yesterday, was arrested. A very funny guy who I had only known for two years, arrested?!
Turns out he decided to fuck up his life by robbing pizza delivery men. 6 counts of armed robbery. It blow my fucking mind that he would throw away years of his life, and his chances of ever making it anywhere in football (he was quite good) over some pizza change.
For a team that was already low on players, losing a key WR/DB isn't exactly ideal. I'm kind of in denial, because although he hung around the wrong crowd, i didn't expect him to rob people at gunpoint.

The worst part, he and his mother moved out of a more dangerous area of Maryland two years ago, in hopes that he could stay out of trouble... she's such a nice woman too. I wonder how she's feeling right now...
I guess if you do the crime, expect to do the time.

Absolutely idiotic. If you're going to be a retard and completely forgo all risk/reward analysis in favor of a quick buck, at the very least rob something worthwhile.
Really all he's going to get from pizza delivery guys is an actual quick buck, maybe two if he's lucky.

A guy I knew from high school who was two years ahead of me went to jail for killing someone with a baseball bat. I was let on the senior Football team as a junior, and we were the same position. From what I could tell he was very nice and fun to be around, but a few years later this happened because of a gang initiation. It was surprising because my school was in a very nice area, with most of the students being upper middle class. So I have no idea of how he got into the situation of needing to be in a gang.

Wouldn't he figure it wasn't worth it after the first or second time? I can't imagine it brought in that much cash, for the enormous and stupid risk he's taking.
He could always just, you know, get a job as a pizza delivery man instead. Probably make more money that way anyways.

Hawk I don't know where you live, but where I do, Mid-South U.S. there are a lot of kids that get out of poverty through sports and do this exact thing. I hear about it more than I should, it happens probably 1-2 per year. Some kid fucks up his life like this. His doing this ruined his entire life, and he didn't know that then, but he sure as hell knows that now.

the op even says his mother moved them specifically to get him out of shitty environments... so the family isnt so poor that he has no other idea of how to do anything with his life. he's 17, not a baby. it's a dumbass kid doing dumbass shit specifically because he can/thinks it is cool/whatever

I guess I should qualify my thought, I pity the kid for ruining his life, I don't pity the action, what he did was stupid and he needs to pay the time for the crime. Yeah I agree with you, the kid working the job deserves my sympathy, but for some reason (maybe where I live, most likely) I just feel bad that the kid unknowingly ruined his life. I do however understand where your coming from Hawk, and understand that my point of view is kind of wonky haha.
