EPTAccording to TL search, i made my first post on april 7 2009, in the OSL finals (JD vs fantasy) thread. I seriously doubt that i registered that late though, since i was an avid starcraft fan way before that, and remember way earlier threads. Im not too sure about when the exact registration date though, but i know for sure that i have been lurking Teamliquid since 05-06 ( I was an exchange student in america and went to a school right by where Day9 had just graduated. I believe I even had some kind of an email-exchange with him or so, my claim to fame i guess..)
To celebrate this occation i´ve decided to compose a battle report, since thats the most enjoyable threads there are on TL, except for the occational Rekrul thread.
I´ve been playing "competitively" ( ie not v computer) since TSL 1, where i registered and ended up very far down in the rankings. Never gotten any good - have hit C- a couple of times, starting go get back up there but still not hitting it consistenly, and currently playing in D-league for the amazing SK Telecom T3. I started of as toss but have been Z for as far as i can remember.
Lets get down to buisness (this is my first one so not very good but ill improve im sure)
This game takes place on the amazing map of Blue storm, the map where mondragon went 42-1 in TSL 2, and one of my favorite maps of all time. time: a couple of weeks ago.
I spawn as the red zerg at 1 o clock, and my opponent, the oh so fearsome J.dong spawns as the yellow protoss at 7.
I start of with an overpool while he goes on and 2-gates me. I have no idea how to handle this, but i figure ill give it a shot before i GG. I steal his gas just because i can.

I get my zerglings out and run around his base, trying to get my expo up and do some damage. Im mildly successfull - he has alot of zealots and there is really no room for doing too much damage.

My expo gets up! Unfortunately, the sunken does not and the damned zealots just runs right by my defenses, and starts slaughtering my drones. For some reason i have opted for a spire, since i wanted to catch him by surprise.

The bastard also sends in another wave of 4 zealots, but they get cleaned up with only the loss of 4 zerglings.

Im left with only 3 drones, 1 zergling and very few minerals. I figured i might as well go out with a bang and goes on and makes 1 mutalisk. Maybe he doesnt have a core or any cannons in his mineral line? With my hero muta and the hero ling i move out to kill my opponent

Alas, he has cannons all over the place. I do manage to kill his gateway (the second one got killed earlier by my inital harassing zerglings), but during all this he has secured his expansion with cannons and a new gateway.

I have no other choice but to try to drone up. I saturate my 2 bases somewhat, continues to build a hydra den and a third hatchery, completing my sick sick sim city. Not even zealots can touch me now.

Its time to try to break him. I move out with my upgraded hydras and i try to bust him

Its a wild battle, but he has storm out and barely holds on, losing alot of minerals on building cannons. i procede to make lurkers to try to contain him for a little bit while i work up my economy.

Unfortunately, its not nearly enough. He has a very strong econ, and goes on to slaughter my light contain, leaving me with veritably no units at all. This is the end.

while the contain was up i did expand to the 4 o clock and then also to the 6 , and now i have to panic sunken them up to protect it from the evil protoss.

He now has a pretty sick contain, but i am on 4 gas so im quite comfortable just turtling up. I dont want to give in even though i feel that my chances of winning are very slim. My counter-attacks are not very successful.

He is now almost maxed out and is sitting outside my base with templars, reavers and pretty much everything. He has somehow picked off my hydra den (which i didnt notice) so my 5sh6sh7sh-spamming doesnt really give me anything, except for a huge bank. I sink that bank into ultras, and also figures out that the only thing that can save me are guardians.

When he sees the guardians, he panics and moves in. Not a very good angle, and although he storms all my lings to pieces, the ultras, supported by the sunkens, lurkers and guardians holds. im free!

He is now running out of minerals and gas. I try to take the 12, but find myself not being the only contender for the expo, and it gets denied.

I can now roam free. I harass his main, and try to pick favorable places to fight and not lose too many gas units.

After more than 45 minutes of almost conceding, i emerge victorious. GG, J.dong, you were indeed a worthy opponent.
