Another popular number is 112 - used around Europe, South Korea and others. You guys should be proud, thank you for your work. Your spirit and dedication saves countless lives. Just the other day I had a really bad accident and almost had to call ER before I faint, and it made me realize how important it is to know the number to call if something like that happens and you aren't with someone. It's also important to have a phone.

Interesting fact (haven't tried it though) is that apparently these emergency numbers can be used even if your cell phone doesn't have SIM card, not sure how that works though.

I logged in just to comment. knowing many paramedics and emts, the majority have a hero complex and are very sour about their job. Would love to live in your area where ems workers have a smile on their face 24 7. Lol. They are underpaid though. Emt makes around 25, paramedic makes around 35 depending an hour. Emt is different in the states, they have almost no training compared to emts in canada. Emr has the same as an american emt and you cant even find jobs for emr unless on the rigs. Guess it sucks to be in US . Sorry typed this on my phone must be bad grammer but most ems workers need to find a new line of work lol

Sorry for sounding like a jerk but i know wayyyyy too many ems people that are just plain unrespectable besides the job they do

haha, yeah i work in care, it would be a decent job if we were paid more than £6 per hour . £8 per hour would be a freakin 25% increase in monthly wage

This reminds me of the "What other people think I do..." comics. For whatever reason, people like to feel special and tend to think that everyone else's view of them is distorted.

So honestly, who in the world thinks that people in your field are saviors that have no life besides their jobs? As for the pay, if there are teenagers out of highschool involved, I guess it can't be that good. It's a shame though.

Props to you for your attitude and for making this a little better than the actual comics but I still feel quite indifferent about it. I'm only waiting for someone to tell me that people working for pizza delivers can actually enjoy video games as well...

You know, I took sports medicine classes in high school for 2 years. I always thought the whole medical field in general was pretty cool. I also thought being a firefighter would be cool, as well as a surgeon. Every time I read your blogs Snet, you really inspire me to become someone who is willing to put my own life on the line, do crazy things, to rush out in early hours of the morning without hesitation or objections. It's weird, because I'm not a people person at all, in fact, I don't really like people at all. But when I think of it, being someone like you is one of the most honorable things.

Money might not be everything but 10 bucks an hour is kind of a travesty considering the responsibility people like you have. I have two friends who are EMT's, too. I know they don't make a fortune but they make more than that.
