EPTSo it's roughly been a week since I implemented my 3 games a day ladder qouta and it's working out swimmingly. I still get ladder fear and all that jazz, but I haven't missed a game yet and I get all the benefits of feeling like a champion when I see that victory screen.
I started this coming off a losing streak and some of you may remember my last lamentations of mutalisk mayhem.
Well now I'm back on a winning streak. But it's not because my PvZ is that much better. It is, but it's not why the last three days I have been winning >66% of my games.
See the matchmaker keeps foolishly pairing me up against terrans.
Just a day or so ago I played a few PvT's with a masters terran who presumably wanted free wins off a scrub like myself. At first it worked, I would survive the initial bio pressure but die to multiprogned drops that struck like fletchettes into my macrotossing torso.
And then one game on Taldarim Altar, I did my safe 1 gate FE build but he 1 rax FE'd. I decided not to put down my nexus. I was tired of macro games, too scared to let the game last long enough to get dropped into oblivion. I spotted two rax with tech labs with my initial zealot and stalker and that's when it occured to me. "If he has two rax with tech labs and is getting an expand at the same time... he won't have many marines for a while".
It was a eureka moment. I had my probe put down a proxy stargate next to my proxy pylon and then chronoed wg as I put down some more gateways.
The gateways finished in sync with my wg and my void ray and my last proxy pylon.
The void ray gave line of sight for my first warp in and the rest was history. I was laughing in sadistic pleasure before the gg wp shone like gold upon my screen.
Since then I have tried it on the ladder with 100% success so far. I'm sure it has a bo counter, but I know for a fact that if I see a terran both expanding AND teching, or even just going heavy on the 'rauders I can rape him like it's the 2010 Void Ray Invasion of Bronze League.
And the beauty of it is that almost ALL the terrans in my league try to get their add ons in that wonderful time frame that leaves them completely open to my prismatic beam.
