Hi! I've been following SC2 streams and results since the beta, unfortunately I haven't been able to actually play. I had a decent computer when the beta came out, but I kinda dropped it down some stairs, haven't been able to play on it since then(it was a Dell XPS M1730, fuck you stairs).
Well anyway, since I was kinda awesome at bw I figured that I'd be awesome at SC2 too. So when I bought a new work-computer I had sc2 in the back of my mind. So I chose a Lenovo T520 with Intel i7, 8gb ram, SSD and Nvidia NVS4200M. Not an awesome gaming-computer but it should handle SC2 on lowest? Atm I play on lowest, and at 1280x720 resolution. I turned that sound-thingy which can cause lag off. I have all the newest drivers and not that many programs running in the background and really good internet connection.
I'd appreciate if anyone has a solution for me, or the same computer so we can compare anything!
Tbh I though I'd be able to run sc2 on my processors built-in gfx-card..
Thanks /jOlly

doesn't the t520 have switchable graphics? maybe some sort of power saving setting/issue is keeping it from running correctly.
can you confirm that it's actually running on the nvidia chip and not the intel?
I've got a t420 with an i3 and intel graphics, and it runs pretty well on lowest, so your pc should be able to handle it just fine

It's just at random times that it lags. And as I said I'm a former brood war-player, when you come from the best game in the world you tend to like long macrogames! And that's usually when it becomes unplayable. How can I confirm what gfx-card it runs on?

I don't really understand what "I was awesome at BW, thought i'd be awesome at sc2 as wel" has to do with your thread? But okay..
On topic : I had the same issue, I have an Acer 5742G with Geforece GT 540m and i5 and I had to switch SC2 to use the nvidia chip. That solved the issue for me.

I was about to write a longer text, so I was gonna hint that I like long games. And that's when I notice lag. But I'm quite bad a multitasking while working, so I apologize for writing badly.
Anyway, found an option under "3D-options" where i forced sc2 to run on Nvidia, we'll see if that helps in the end. Thanks guys!

Doesn't SC2 give you a message saying what is causing your lag?
I used to play SC2 on a laptop and it informed me my CPU was slowing down the game whenever my screen lagged noticeably.

I'd be sad if that was the problem, since i have an i7 I don't get any message, it just starts lagging badly(especially on creep and when toss storms alot). I've gotten the message "your computer is slowing down the game" on my last computer, and I always thought that it was something with my computer rather than my actual CPU. Can new games determine what the source of lag is?
