Sponsorless, the MSL played its last survivor match on the second of August. Later, the rescheduled 2010-2011 Shinhan Bank Proleague Grand Final occurred. The Jin Air OSL concluded with the Fantasy-JangBi final in mid-September.
Since then, we've waited. The MSL group ceremony never came. The dissolution of MBCGame HERO, Hwaseung OZ, and WeMade FOX didn't help matters at all. MBC announced that it was transforming into a K-Pop channel. Many professional players retired. There were rumors that OSL might switch to StarCraft II soon.
Yet even in the most ominous storms, silver linings exist. Proleague is back. The format, different; the maps, new; the sponsor, changed. The Hawk has returned. The Ultimate Weapon is functional. There is an eighth team--a dream team, looking for its spot in history, and the remaining seven are bolstered by players from disbanded ones.
Proleague is back.
For you, the inveterate watchers, the stalwart defenders of Brood War--this is your time. After two months of nothing, the time has come to forsake sleep, to disregard health, to cheer loudly as Korean men in a foreign land bang away furiously at their keyboards.
And for anyone who has joined Team Liquid because of StarCraft II and doesn't know about its predecessor's professional scene, I urge you to give Proleague (and by extension, Brood War) a shot. To get you started, this is definitely worth reading.
We've been waiting for this. Brood War for life.

When all you gotta keep is strong Move along, move along, like I know you do And even when the hope is gone... ... Hope abounds. Hello Proleague!

Yeee. Super hyped for tonight !

These are great times for esports.
SC2 for the foreign factor, BW for the awesome factor.
Best of both worlds, all in one weekend.
GG nerd life :D

SKT1 and T8 showdown for the opening match is a really great way to open the new season. Taking the best team (no bias here!) against the newest team with a lot of justified hype is going to be really interesting to see.
This is going to be amazing. BW for life!

My first sleepless night in so long.
Oh Brood War, how I missed thee...

We really need to try harder to reach out to the Sc2 community and get them to tune in. Anyone have ideas on how best to do this?

Very excited! :D .... will there be a dedicated IRC channel or something? Or will everyone just be in the TL IRC <_<?
EDIT: Actually, will there be public streams available X_X?

#teamliquidbw is a pretty good place. And there will almost definitely be streamers.

God I'm so excited. If there's no one streaming the matches I might break down and cry.

Why is there even an "Edit/Delete Event" option? Seriously.

i'm looking foward to team 8's performance tonight

So, how do I watch? Are there free VODs?

There will be streams up at the time of the event on tl sidebar, here's the live report thread (usually less shitty than SC2 one except when Shine beats Bisu or stuff like that^^), and VODs will be up on nevake's youtube account. The small vod thread also is a great ressource. Finally Sayle will be restreaming a match with English commentary http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=286288, and I really like his commentaries. Tommorow it will be at 14CET ! Enjoy, I sure will :D GOGOGO KT/TEAM 8

Look at the On The Air events in 2 hours and 45 minutes from the time of this post.

I have to confess, I found TL through SC2, and I've never watched professional BW before. I've decided to stay up and give this a watch though, and I'm actually pretty excited, even if I won't know half of what's going on! >.>

BROOOOOODD WAAAAARRRR!!!! Ahhhhhhh, so hard to wait... so close...
edit: staying up is not too hard... 12 KST right? 10pm EST, 7pm west... practically normal. One of the few times I will watch live.

You come from an age where some vods are not free. It's sad. Pathetic even. You can watch live with a restream or you can wait a day or two for it to be uploaded on Nevake's youtube channel by Moktira.

Actually, have any of the regular streamers checked in and said they'll be streaming tonight? No one is listed in the LR threads, and it would really suck if all our hype was for naught.
