August 31th, 2011. The end of a well known team, beloved by many, will disband. Wemade FOX is currently one out of 2.5 (I say .5 because we don't know if MBC is FOR SURE to disband) teams that are disbanding soon. Brood War is currently in one of those gloomy days.
The signs are all around us. Can BW continue to live? Is SC2 really now the powerhouse? Signs are all around us. Disbanding teams, PR getting taken off the front page right bar of TL, people on threads making rude comments (from which i harshly responded and promptly get temp banned), and even small things like the polls being all SC2. I myself even got a horribly rude PM as shown here:

Yeah, BW might be dying, BUT WE AS BW FANS WONT GO! We will fight for our beloved game which so many think, is all but a few more years, if not months from coming to a complete stop. Do we give up the game that has all brought us here to this website? Do we hold up our hands and believe that this is all over? I know i wont. I continue to believe. Believe that BW will still continue strong, and that these disbandings are only a test of our strength, our hope in believing BW will live for more years to come.

P.S. I'm quitting Starcraft due to school getting more serious (sophmore year of high school). But I'll make another blog for that when the time comes (September 7, 2011).

An era will come to the end. A legend, a once in a millenium event. And SC2 won't be there, when BW falls. Because SC2 has already died long before, before that happens!
BW, keep fighting!

That Apollo_Shards guy really needs to take the radish out of his ass. What's with the verbal attack when you just want to support a game you like? I personally enjoy watching BW far more than SC2 because I can tell how much effort it takes to play BW the way pros play it. The "pros" in SC2 make a lot of errors that seem like they can be easily avoided.
I've only played BW for a short time and didn't find a lot of motivation to play it (damn you inactive D level iCCup  ), but I'd definitely be sad to see it go.

I was asking myself the same thing when i got it. I looked at it... refreshed... looked at it again... then shook my head in disgust. even worse, hes a fresh newbie low post count and everything...
and yeah, im gonna be so sad to see this game go. at least another 5 strong years please?

I think it's too early to give up hope, BW has had a hell of a run and it would be incredibly sad if it died now, PL finals had a lot of viewers so there is clearly still interest in it, I believe BW can continue its glorious existence.
Besides, I really don't think SC2 has what it takes to replace BW completely.

While I think the disbanding of the teams and the shrinking (however slowly) of the BW scene is a tragedy for esports, you guys shouldn't be so harsh on SC2. Whoever sent that pm does have a "radish up his ass", but there's no neeed to simultaneously bash on SC2... is there?

The point is it shouldn't be coming down to this BS of, "OH I WATCH SC2 AND PLAY SC2 SO IT MUST BE BETTER."
This is a community of Starcraft fans, whether it be BW or SC2. I love the former for different reasons than I love and enjoy the latter. The amount of inter-game hate like that fool's PM above is ridiculous.
It's a bit of a gloomy time for BW sure, but I will ride it out until whatever happens at the end. At this stage, I'm still enjoying Brood War as much as ever.
