(Not in order of importance)
Reason #1.
The Cheerfuls.
+ Show Spoiler +
Some of the people that watch GSL are serious artists man.
After they get (or sadly don't) their cheerful aired, they give it to the Gom Staff who post it on the walls. I thought it was just going to be one wall, but the whole frickin place is covered in cheerfuls. Hidden among them are SC memes and jokes, very nice artwork, heartfelt fan messages, etc. I seriously spent an hour looking at the cheerfuls.
Reason #2:
The Photo Gallery
Second best thing to actually being with the players.
The hall of fame pictures give me nerdchills thinking about the games in their finals. And the pictures with the players and all their fans are seriously so amazing to look at. Also seeing all the players in one place is really, really awesome.
Reason #3:
Free stuff
Free drinks. ZOMG. Drank so much Pepsi and Mountain Dew.
Oh and the GomGirl laid out snacks at the table, but when I got to it they were gone. :[
So much paper for cheerfuls, SO MUCH FUN.
This is tea. And water next to it. And free Gom brand tissues. ^^
DAMMIT I deleted the picture with the balloon boomers, but that was awesome too. The noise they make cannot be beat. I was overwhelmed by how hospitable everyone is. The GomGirl was so friendly, and Cella told me to drink some soda, cuz it was free. ^^
Getting to my fourth point:
Reason #4:
People
The GomGirl is so nice, and cute in person. She's really friendly. ^^
After I bought a Gom shirt, she asked which my favorite player was, and I said Nada. She went to go get a picture of Nada then gave it to me. They're so hospitable.
I should've asked for a picture with her... Dammit.
Bought a gom shirt... Apparently it comes with a BoxeR signature, picture and 2 gom stickers. And then the Nada picture the GomGirl gave me. ^^
qxc drops in when he isn't laddering or practicing. Yep.
Also, didn't get pictures with them, but Moletrap, Doa and Wolf were all there watching. It's really so surreal talking to them. Just talking story, usually about SC, but still, really fun to just chill with them.
Tastosis are so nice in person. Just wait till after the games and they gladly take pictures. ^^ They can't really talk story when they have to cast though, but even in breaks they'll chat as much as they can. When I approached them before the games started Tasteless thought I was Korean and asked if I spoke English, haha.
Cella. He's so funny and really welcoming. I was too starstruck to ask Bomber and MMA for pictures so he asked them for me after seeing that I was just staring at them with my jaw open. Then after I asked to get a picture with him and he was really surprised. I guess he doesn't think he's as popular as he is. He was even more surprised when I asked him to sign my Gom shirt. ^^
The Gom staff in general are just so accommodating and nice. They do their best in the English that they know, but you can tell that they try really hard to make you feel welcome, and thank you for coming to watch GSL.
Am I missing something?
Oh right,
Reason #5:
The Players
I coudl've gotten pictures with Optimus and Genius, but I'm not the biggest fans of them. Esp. Optimus after he beats MMA. >:[
But anyway, HOLY SHIT. If you go early, the players kinda just lounge around before they go in the studio to set up. You can nab pictures with them and even talk to them a little. They're always so welcoming. I was shaking with nerdgasms as they came up the stairs. Throughout the games, they'll walk by you and sometimes wave or just smile. It's a ridiculous nerd dream come true.
It's surreal because the cameras make the studio seem really big... It's not.
I'm sticking out my foot from a chair in the front row. You're seriously right there. That intensifies the emotion when you're playing. After MMA lost and I saw Cella go in his booth to comfort him I was seriously tearing up...
Notice I didn't mention the games. Don't go just for the games. Sure watching Starcraft is fun, but most of the time you'll just be looking at the players and Tastosis/casters. It's such an awesome experience. Meeting the players... mindblowing.
Watching GSL live. Priceless. Seriously.
DO IT.
