But what's the deal with Julian (the head songwriter/singer)? I keep hearing he's this drama queen who keeps threatening to blow the band to pieces, but I don't think I've ever read anything inflammatory in his interviews and whatnot. I did however read about a Rolling Stone interview that went horribly wrong, where Julian was plastered and tried to make out with the interviewer, another man. Besides that--and some odd comments about God--he comes across as a pretty good guy with genius lyrics.
I don't see the drama folks, I just don't. And yet Julian has been blamed for everything from The Strokes losing their sound to the hipsterization of New York. Unless someone shows me definitive proof that this man is a drama queen, I won't believe it. What did the man do, get into a fistfight with his bandmates? Trip the Queen of England? Unless it's something that serious it's probably just a guy with normal doubts and normal frustrations.
I'm kinda obsessed with this song right now.
(Also, may I take this space to say RIP Amy Winehouse, poor woman.)
