School, work, family, friends, and random obligations. These are things that interfere with staying up until 5 in the morning. Well, those things aren't as important as ESPORTS. Well, considering the quality of the typical GSL Finals, they are. But this is NESTEA VERSUS LOSIRA!!! This should WILL BE the finals to watch. Anyway, I'll show a method to get some sleep while still being up for the entirety of the GSL finals. The timings of this method are not strict and I will show adaptations at the end. So let's get started!
Materials Needed:
2 Chairs 1 or 3 Pillows (depends on if you need a Huk style ass-chair) Blankets to cover body Computer -Headphones -Music Player -Alarm Clock Program
Guide:
Okay, you want to download the Alarm Clock Program first. I'm not going to explain how to configure it as the site explains and the options are pretty self explanatory. Well the cool thing about the alarm I linked is that you can use whatever sound clip you like. At first, I had my friend sing a death metal vocal as the alarm...but my mom told me to stop playing demon music every morning. So I had to change to dixie horns.
If you like to listen to music while going to sleep, set your music player's volume to extremely low. Regardless of whether you listen to music or not, set the computer's volume to extremely high. This will assure that the alarm will wake you up.
The picture sucks, but you get the idea.
Now you need to make your "bed." I have one ass pillow, one footrest pillow, and one pillow for my head. This is intentionally uncomfortable. I have a hard time waking up when I don't need to, especially since I'm out of school right now. So since I'm so uncomfortable, I wake up easily and the headphones amplify the volume. For safety, I have a real alarm clock in case my headphones fall off.
Now you just need to sit in bed, put the headphones on (music if you want), and try to go to sleep. I'm not gonna lie, it will be difficult to sleep. But whatever. Anything for ESPORTS.
Timings:
Now I didn't mention timings because it is entirely up to you. They have three basic formats.
Monophasic:
This is simple. Just sleep for 8 hours before the finals. I don't use this option, but I guess it is possible. If you have trouble waking up in general and have the time to sleep ~8 hours before the finals, do this.
Biphasic:
Basically you sleep for a few hours before the finals, watch the finals, and then go back to sleep. The amount of time varies for the two phases depending on what you have time to do, but I recommend trying to keep the two phases kind of equal (within an hour variance) of each other.
Boss Mode:
Basically you sleep for a moderate amount of time. 4-6 hours before the event. After the finals, you just don't go back to bed. I'd only do this if you absolutely cannot go back to sleep. I actually did this for MC vs July (or maybe Nestea v Inca) on a school night. Well it wasn't worth it because the finals were shit. But whatever.
Happy Sleeping!

i sleep 4 to 6 (6 is a lot) hours a night regularly so I usually just wake up for gsl events and then go to work
ps. my favorite part BY FAR was "for safety i have a real alarm clock" haahahahaha

Achievement Unlocked = GSL Finals Baby!

Cosy set up you have there. I'm so happy that I'm live in SEA, KST is just one hour ahead of me :3
Just. Don't. Oversleep!
|
Ahaha I actually do the same thing for the GSL. Instead of a makeshift bed though, my PC is in my bedroom so I have my headphones stretched across the room to my bed for the alarm program (SNSD - My Best Friend as the alarm) to wake me up 10 minutes after my DS alarm in case I turn it off in my sleep. Been doing this since GSL Season 2 and it's never failed me.

GSL finals at 3am? Living in Canada and afraid that the Alarmclock download will bust your 3-KB-monthly download limit? Well, fear no more!
1. Set speaker volume to max 2. Put sound file on desktop 3. Open notepad and save as wakeup.bat on desktop:
TIMEOUT 10800 :: for healthy 3 hours of sleep START BlowYourEarsOut.wav
4. At midnight, run wakeup.bat and go to sleep 5. ??? 6. Profit!
Please don't sleep on your chair in front of your computer. Except when you're drunk and can't find your bed anymore.

I'll probably be drinking to drown my sorrows since there is no terran in the finals
