Am I the only one who finds it really pathetic every time that they check out the homestory cup thread with the amount of people who like use it as an emotional toilet where they say take it upon themself to say random crap just to get their post count up...
It really really infuriates me when I look at the thread to see everybody's opinons on the games and I just see people saying " LOL " " Haha" " OMG " . I am new to team liquid and I would like to ask if it is like this in every tournament thread?
Thanks for reading.

LR threads are pretty awful. There are just so many comments in them that it seems impossible to moderate them properly, and thus many people just post things like OMG or EPIC WIN... stuff that would be fine to say in chat, but that aren't post-worthy.

lol haha omg you are right

I truly hate it as well, you are not alone

As with most live reports threads, people treat them a bit like a chat room (they shouldn't be, but they do. I think everyone is guilty however) as long as they're on subject discussing the games at hand and not random nonsense, it's helpful to get a feeling of the game as it progresses as people discuss. Ofc when a game ends and you get 4 pages of "GG" that's not useful, but at least you know the game finished I guess. The Live report thread from the recent MLG during the Idra v MMA game.. went into utter meltdown. All good fun tho.

I find it irritating as well. Threads shouldn't be treated as IRC channels.

I think that is the mindset of bloody everybody in the match report threads.

I don't post in LR threads for 2 reasons. Nobody is going to read what I say, and I won't be able to read what everybody else says.

This sounds like the majority of my posting history, hmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Hmm yeah it actually never occured to me that every post that I did say on a LR thread would just get drowned by a wave of posts of " HAHA " and " GG " and that it would actually never be read.

LR threads are treated as a place to watch the games together and share the emotional experience. It adds to the hype and social experience when a thread gains 10 pages whenever Boxer enters the booth, don't you agree? People "spouting random crap" may not be desirable, but it's certainly understandable to me.

From what I understand they used to be made for people who were not there to watch the games, whenever I was at school I was unable to watch BW games live due to resistrictions, so I just read for example Zona's LRing instead so that I know whats going on.

There are quite a few people who still do quality LRing like chain spoiler quoting themselves. But they are the minority tho.
|
As someone who generally avoid those threads, I can aptly say that bad posting along those lines are not limited to LR threads.

does giving live commentary on an LR like "player A taking 6 oclock, Player B moving forces to intercept Player A's units moving to 5" would those count into that?
|
One of the reasons why my post count is so low. I like to read the threads, but mostly find stuff I don't find interesting or there are already 10 pages long and don't feel like voicing my opinion.
|
Barring the few people who use LR threads to actually report what is going on in the game(s) for those who can't watch the stream, the LR threads are essentially the Youtube comments of TL
edit: youtube comments without the random witty remark that makes them worth reading on a rare (drunken) occasion

SC2 Live Threads are absolute horror lol
