Hello, I don't know what to say about this, but simply: Wow.
I'm half way through my placement matches, (won all three that I've played so far) and I just have to say, how different it is compared to NA/SEA..
For one, I've been playing Silver/Gold players, and they are better than half the Diamond players I've ever played on NA. Also, the aggressiveness... never faced so much aggression in any game before tonight. And one other thing, the lengths they will go to to stay in the game: When I'm rolling banelings into there base (which is in flames) they will still float their buildings, land them some place else, and start building scvs, i'm not sure if its BM or just hardcore Dedication xD Quite remarkable really. I'm expecting to get placed against some platinum players soon, where I will more than likely get my teeth kicked in... Ah fun times a head!
Also, the friendly factor. Koreans are friendly as hell is what I can tell from spending one hour on starcraft 2 chatting with these friendly guys. Every game, I'm greeted with 'Hello' or 'Hi'... made me feel all gooey on the inside. I weaselled my way into the Prime chat channel and had a small conversation with Check, was quite awesome really.
At the moment I'm trying to locate the oGs chat channel in an effort to communicate with my hero, JookTo. He's been my fave player ever since watching my very first replay featuring JookToJung vs oGsTheStC... Even though he lost, his play and multitasking was just spectacular... It was the first time I had been stunned by starcraft 2 play... ahhh memories.
Good Day all,
EDIT: Yes that replay was from the beta
EDIT: Completed all my placement matches, didn't drop a single game but I got put into Platinum, What gives yo?? xD

nice blog, although I think the "do anything to stay in the game" generalization is probably a bit inaccurate considering you only played 3 games
also do you mind telling us what rank/placement you were in NA/SEA?
|
Yea man,
In Sea, Diamond - rank 17 NA - Not yet ranked but I was low Masters before the reset.
I'm also really happy about the lag.. It's on par with the lag I was getting on the NA server... feels good man.
|
Haha, you seem to be happy. GL and HF I guess.

|
yeah i had pretty much the same experience playing Street Fighter 4 back in New Hampshire, US and playing here in Taiwan (vs Japanese players)
the average skill level and mentality is very different for sure

How did you go about getting a Korean SSN or whatever you need for the account? Or are you Korean living in NZ? Just Curious because I really want to play on the Korean server but alas I'm not Korean, nor do i know any Koreans

Good Day all, By any chance was the game vs Jookto on metalopolis from the beta?

dude I can confirm this mans statement. when I first got into the korean server.....I got rolled by silver players because I was not ready for the crazy all ins and non stop aggression. it feels like every terran will bunker rush you. also, when you rofl stomp the bunker rush and you feel like "haha he probably turtling now", they send a never ending stream of marines and just kill you. oh and the 4 gates are just insane.
but the bronze-plat players in Korea cannot macro at all. to be honest I feel like NA macros better at the plat-bronze range. obviously the koreans can macro at the diamond+ range, but the guys below....all they do is one base hardcore.
of course this is not always true but from my observances in the KR server. i am plat in korea server

i am very curious to find out how to get on the SEA sever because i would like to but have to idea how :-0
|
^^ Just buy a singapore copy of sc2 from the blizzard store. While the average level of play is higher, and a lot more aggressive than NA I think the higher levels of play are pretty much equal to the NA server, There is a ton of cheese( 1 basing is quite common),your anti cheese will become better. But the biggest problem is there are not many people online at all times, at prime time it's no problem to get a game, but otherwise its tough.

Simply change your region to Singapore in battle.net, then purchase a copy.
Sea FTW but I'm afraid the Korean server is pretty awesome xD

I used to play in op 3.33- and other Korean channels on USWest for Brood war. Yes, there is a HUUUUUUUUUUGE difference between Korean players and non-Korean players, and I imagine it isn't much different for SC II.

Yeah it's just because you don't have any MMR history. If you do random 2s/3s/4s placements then do 1v1 you can place better. But it's usually just better to grind out the 1v1s ;p

There isn't really any comparison to be made between NA and Kor server. You may as well be playing a different game.
|
Ouch And I thought I was a decent player at Diamond...to be pwned by Korean silvers Whyyyy
