I just got home from work today and checked my mail. In it was an envelope with my name on it (my last name is Finish), but no address. This made me think I had disturbed a neighbour with too loud sounds or similar.

Once I got back to my apartment I opened the envelop to find a hand written note inside. In (what I assume to be) Finish. The only parts I could understand without resorting to Google Translate were some times, an url and the signatories names at the end.

The note ended with the url www.watchtower.org followed by the names of those that had written it. Being somewhat of a paranoid person I googled the site instead of entering it. Only to realise I had just spent 10 minutes trying to puzzle out a note from Jehovah's Witnesses.

Got to hand it to them though, the closest I have come to religious soliciting since I moved to this building.

I wish to say thank you to those that try to convert people irl. You show that there is still dedication to a cause.

I must say I'm quite the opposite in my feelings towards people who try to convert others. I don't go around telling people to believe in what I believe in, or that what they believe in is wrong, as I feel it's really rude to do so.

Look at it this way. If you sincerely believed that everyone that didn't follow your faith was going to burn in hellfire for all eternity (or whatever the jehovah witness equivalent is), and you actually cared about your fellow human beings, wouldn't you want to help them avoid that fate?

This is true. I know of a really devout Christian who had cried because she couldn't get her friends to become "better Christians". She sincerely thought that they were going to go to Hell, or at least not be saved when they die and this saddened her like woah. So I can see where they're coming from.
Haven't you heard? I'm not an ex-progamer. I'm not a poker player. I'm not an admin of the site. I'm mother fucking Rekrul.

Haha, everytime I think of Watchtower, I think the people are trying to get me to read a fantasy book.
Still, what a nice effort!

Well the reason why Christians do missionary work is because they are commanded in the Bible to do so. To become a good christian is to spread the word. I don't find it rude for people to share their beliefs, it shows their devotion to what they believe. Being too forceful with one's belief on others is not the way to go. I laugh when I hear people on busy city street corners saying that everyone is going to hell.... wow that is going to get them to convert!
