Imagine you're making a SCBW movie (not SCII), and you had to pick music. It should be a highlight movie. What would you pick?
Plz tell me via answering the poll above. The Bands mentioned are only examples to show which kind of genre I mean. You can always mention other Bands/Genres.

If your goal is to do a good job then the answer is, it depends on the content of the video. When I think back to the pimpest plays videos, they did a great job (2002,2004 are the ones I remember) of choosing the music to meet the mood and tempo of what was 'going on' in the video. The genre of music by itself almost doesn't matter.

Well, strongly depends. I have a little experience with making movies. For what I know the music has a strong influence on the success (qualitiy) of the work. This is why I (at least once in my life) want to have a soundtrack before making the movie. I want to hear what people expect (imagine) from a soundtrack. I always hear people complaining so I try to get a little feedback before I the most is done.

voted for classic not that I like it that much but maybe it could be kinda cool... And also I never heard any of the other options but I hate all the wild PL/OSL/MSL and pimpest plays songs that we had in the past. Actually its the only thing I dont like about progaming, but guess the music cant fit everybody everywhere. Anyways good initiative and good luck to you sir

As far as I can remember, I've always associated hardcore music with BW. I don't even like it, but it always seems to fit.

Yeah, electronic is the big missing genre. Not only that, but it's so diverse at this point that if you wanted to actually collect a broad sample including stuff as far from modern as Mozart, then you probably deserve 2 electronic categories. It's certainly more deserving than punk, metal, and hardcore (I don't mean in terms of preference, but in terms of volume of popular/modern music to number of your poll categories).
To actually answer the question though, I think you should dub it out.

The answer to your question is the theme music from Tron:Legacy. Daft Punk are simply awesome at creating a mood.
If no that, then something electronic.

I think most SC scenes go well with powerful music. I think some classic music(Dvorak and Mahler in particular), movie soundtracks and some metal pieces fulfill that.
But the big problem is that obtaining the rights to use a piece is difficult... There are some creative common versions of classic pieces.

Voted Alternative because I think Muse falls under alternative rock, and I think Muse is an awesome band =D
Songs like Supermassive Black Hole and Uprising might suit particular situations in SC.
