Cracked iPod Screen: how to fix?

MangoTango United States3670 Posts September 10 2010 16:39 GMT #1 I cracked my iPod screen today, and the jagoffs at the Apple store tried to charge me $140 to replace it. The image screen under the glass still works, but the touch screen glass is cracked all the way across. Has anyone dealt with this, and what's the best way to fix it? DIY or shop? How expensive?

TryThis Canada1522 Posts September 10 2010 16:50 GMT #2 A friend of mine had a similer problem with a iphone, the screen was shattered, but it still worked. So he just dealt with it looking bad until a new one is affordable. the only thing you can do is buy a new screen from the apple guys as far as i know. that or duct tape

However, it seemed to me that the cheapest way to do this is to do it yourself, but it's slightly complicated etc. There are a ton of videos on it, and sites where you can buy a kit that has everything you need (~$10-40 if I recall correctly) just do some googling
