Metal Slug(s), Neo-Geo, and Emulators

I don't know if this is allowed, but given that I cannot possibly buy the Aracade Machine, I'll post it.

Suddently I have this urge to play Metal Slug Series, nostalgic games that I played in arcades. However, a short search on emulators on NeoGeo revealed RAGEx which shut down its site.

I'm just asking for help in which emulator I should use and using it.

EDIT: I tried MAME some times ago but it didn't work for me =/

Oh man, MAME doesn't work? That's the best emulator for arcade games.

Can you elaborate why it didn't work?

Didn't they release Metal Slug collections for the Wii or DS or something? You could try emulating those versions.

I saw a Metal Slug Anthology for the wii for only 20$ at EB Games. Been tempted to buy it.

MAME shouldn't be that hard

all you have to do correctly is, designate the directory of roms

and make sure the roms you downloaded are full, if they are in parts just drag them into eachother, or extract in the same folder.

also arcade cabs are cheap(well depending on location) I see neo geos for 500$ on craigslist all the time

I think I had a PS emulator that had Metal Slug X or something.
Yayaya... long gone on my HD but I definitely remember playing Metal Slug on PC though emulator. So uh..... it's possible!
That's all I can tell ya.

For Neo Geo, Final Burn Alpha (or neo Final Burn Alpha) is widely considered the best emulator in terms of minimizing emulator input delay inaccuracies. MAME versions tend to be able to emulate the most types of arcade machine hardware, but their programming is not the best.

Remember that for Neo Geo game emulation, you need the ROM of the game as well as "neogeo.zip" for the game to run.

P.S. for MAME, you need to get a ROM version that is compatible with the version of MAME you're using. Every once in awhile, if you upgrade MAME, you need to update ROMs as well or they will not run. Again, MAME might not be your best option anyway.
