Ok well, I reformatted and reinstalled windows xp professional and called my ISP to set up an internet connection and so we did but apparently my network driver isn't installed or something like that so I tried to install the optional components on the windows xp pro disc but it still wouldn't work so I'm dumbfounded, does anybody know what I can do?

Also when I reformatted the reason I didn't back much up was because I had a multitude of viruses and was trying not to spread them.

Use your motherboard CD in or find it online.

I didn't build the computer, my uncle did so I don't have that any ideas where I could find it as I'd rather not download malware

this is usually something you do before formatting so you don't get stuck without drivers. but yeah what r1ch said.

lookup your mobo manufacturer and go to their site, you'll probably need to know the cpu socket and / or mobo model.

CPU-Z should properly identify your mother board and with another computer you should be able to get the drivers.

Well ususally from your mobo makers website.

Likes say it's from ASUS

You go to ASUS's site look it up on google or w.e

go to support and downloads and then you look for your mobo

Which probably named something random looking like p7Q-5E

And what you really need is drivers for you mobo to get everything functioning like it should which should be like all of them listed by the manufactures support site.

This should be under cpu-z mobo thingy my vocab is so expanse yo

Hmm I think I did something bad, I installed the drivers I found on MSI site after searching for Microstar international co g31m3-L v2 (MS-7529) and now my mouse and keyboard aren't working. O.O
