Anyone with similar experiences: share! Okay. I was out biking with a couple of friends. I slipped, and my calf became impaled on the sprocket. I managed to prevent myself from falling, but when I took a look at my leg, I saw it was bleeding. Pretty hard. But it didn't hurt. I ignored it, and kept biking. When I got home, I checked my leg thoroughly. The cut was deep. And I mean deep. It was impaled more than 2 inches at it's deepest point (just a guess, but I could pull the flaps of skin apart and peer inside, and it was pretty deep, I'm not sure how deep, but I'm sure it was more than 2 inches), and the cut itself was almost 8 inches from top to bottom. I threw the pair of shoes I wore into my washing machine to to try to get the blood out, then I sanitized the wound, and used some gauze and duct tape to keep some pressure on the wound. At this point, it was about 2 hours after I received the injury. I lost a lot of blood. Not sure how much, but I know it was a lot. It was still bleeding pretty heavily when I got home. I should have gone to the emergency room, but I just went to bed. I was just a dumb 15 year old at the time. The blood didn't completely come out of my shoes after 3 washes, so I threw them out and bought new ones..... I have an interesting scar on my calf now. It's faded mostly, because this happened 6 years ago, but the scar looks different in a pattern like the spokes of the sprocket. Btw - duct tape may hold gauze on a wound tightly, but it also holds onto leg hair tighter. It is a bitch to get off. Basically, I'm saying this - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

Yours probably severed a major vein or artery. If mine did, I wouldn't be around right now (we were in the middle of nowhere at the time.....), but from the blood I lost, I'm sure I nicked one of the two. Your scar may be more epic than mine, but I'm sure mine has a prettier pattern ![]()
