EDIT
I know the video has been posted, and locked due to a moderator suggesting it for the youtube.com thread, but I honestly wouldn't mind having a good discussion about things brought upon within the video.

Yeah, your right. I just searched Youtube exposed, but I found nothing. I searched Chi City and found it. Thanks for the heads up.

I apologize.

Well I thought the video was incredibly interesting and I found about things I've never knew before. I realize as someone in the other thread posted that Youtube is a privately owned website and therefore has a right to run for a profit. However, I think that Youtube is changing for the worse. I used to check the top videos of the day and find interesting material. Now it's all Shane Dawson, PhillyD, etc.. These guys who clearly post material just for the money.

What about interesting and funny up loaders who have been ignored recently. WineKone comes to mind in this regard, he's pretty much ignored nowadays, but still posts great content. BOHM3, Reneto, etc...

This guys is a great entertainer. If you watch his other stuff there are lots of little creative touches that IMO are unique to Youtube.

Absolutely. He really knows how to entertain. I remember finding his refrigerator video early on and sending it to all of my friends. I think I can relate to him, because as a real Chicago native myself I meet people like him all the time. Easy going people, who just want to live life and have good time.

I remember watching him awhile ago, he's really funny and entertaining.
He seems to also do a lot of charity and kind things.
It sucks that Youtube is that way but as someone else said it's a private organization and they can do what they want for more profits.
Chicity does explain that they don't have to keep putting up the same people and put others up and they'll earn more profits but i'm sure youtube will keep those same people on their frontpage.

But really, in the long run Youtube is the one that's going to suffer for this. Because they want to make a profit, they should strive to broaden the fanbase because people like me never go onto Youtube for the featured videos, but might if I felt there was something worth watching there.

Youtube has a right to make a profit and they should strive to turn their site into a profitable enterprise, but their business model for doing it is flawed. Youtube used to be the only major video site on the net, but these days there are dozens of others. In the long run, unless Youtube cleans up its act a little, it will lose out.

Really, this is a problem with the American business model as a whole. Wall Street encourages short term growth in favor of long term growth. This system worked to a point, but there was a lot of luck and a lot of hardwork from dedicated Americans that allowed us to stumble into where we are today. With the decline in American work ethic and the rampant corruption in NY and DC, things don't look optimistic, because we can't count on luck forever.

That's business, baby.

YouTube's not going to suffer from anything =/ They have way too much brand loyalty, they're incredibly dependable servers, and even if you're completely untalented you can post whatever content you want and it'll stay up there until you forget about it since it was so bad no one watched it.

Think about what YouTube is. YouTube is OWNED by Google. Before Google bought YouTube, they even tried to compete with YouTube making Video.Google.com. It was better in EVERY way. No video length limit, basically no content regulations. Even today it's better, because it searches ALL video sites and you can watch from google (which is hilarious because it's basically like stealing bandwidth while showing google ads). Google ended up having to buy YouTube because no one made the switch, even though Google is a powerful brand name in and of itself.

I also think this spotlights need to go around is silly. If you care about being free speech and making money and creative content, you can host your own site. I've always seen YouTube as random crap for friends so you can share videos really easy. Amazing services like SCVODs are great too, and they wouldn't exist if they had to pay for their own hosting. If you want to advertise your YouTube videos you can do it thru word of mouth... No one even looks at featured videos anyway.

I really like the director/actor qualities of this guy... it makes the whole thing very interesting. I have no idea what to think about his views about youtube, but I really liked watching it.

I don't see anything revealing; duh, a company exists to make $, and everything he mentions is like common sense...

I do hope that accounts like jon747 would survive though.

I agree. I didn't find much of it particularly entertaining either...except the part where he said he was part of that stick porn slammin that ass haha...but I watched the whole thing waiting for something that never came.

while youtube is an incredible strong brand, I read somewhere that
1) because of the brandwidth costs, it doesn't produce profit
2) advertising isn't easy on it, because it's a site for everyone, and hard to address a certain niche

still, it steals views from other video sites because of the brand name and hence those sites produce less ad income ---> it weakens these rival sites
And all is illuminated.
