Alright, I'm in college, loving my classes, loving the Twin Cities, loving the people I meet. Where, I ask is the conflict in my life? Where is the hardship, the pain, and the needless suffering?

Time to play some starcraft.

^ My great plan.

With the new Iccup season starting up, I have set myself the goal of ending the season at D+. This is not wholly unreasonable- I've watched quite a bit of starcraft, am well acquainted with the basic and intermediate mechanics of the game, and am finally playing on a PC after years of using a mac. My rankings have also steadily improved; in Season 8, I had a D- ranking and a 10-30 record. The last season, I aimed to reach a 33% winning percentage, and while I ran as high as 40% (and 1650) I finished at 64-135 which comes to 32%, and a D rank. Nonetheless, a letter improvement, and that's enough for me to aim higher these three months.

Name: treehugger.nc
Faction: Terran
Best MO: I feel most comfortable with my mech TvZ build.
Worst MO: I do not understand TvT very well at all.
APM: About 80 (This can improve)
Best Result: 18 minute, hard fought loss to B- player.

So how am I doing?

Well, I was 4-3 until last nigth, in which I lost five straight games. A couple were good, and I learned from them, and one was a stupid cheese, that I assumed was coming, but barely missed scouting. The mistake will not be made again.

So at 3:25 CST on the Tenth of September, in 2009, I have won 4 games, and lost 9. I now have 913 points.

***

Points of Issue:
- I have real trouble against zerg on heartbreak ridge, as I do not really know a correct method for building placement, as I cannot make a ling-proof wall on that map. (I think). This normally forces me into using bionic units early game, and my control is poor, especially against lurkers.
- I never know how or when to push against protoss, especially on destination. I have frequently won games against toss in which I simply defend and let them waste minerals and units against my army. But after winning a battle, I am rarely able to consolidate my victory- I push, and meet another protoss army. If I lose the battle, I lose.
- I do not understand TvT particularly well, there was a time in which two-fact vulture worked very well, but now I rarely use it, and it is often not employed against me.

EDIT!:
+ Show Spoiler [Game Example] +
Played a game and I'll use it as an example. First and formost, the guy had more than 3X my apm, and I'm pretty confident that wasn't due to a ton of spam. So I probably wasn't the favorite going in here... that said, I'm not comfortable with dismissing it at that. Nothing should preclude me from beating anyone, except practice and skill. Here's what I think I need to work on:
- Hotkeys. I can't seem to get into the habit of hotkeying armies and buildings and such. I used one major army all game. I used "4" for my CC, and "2" for my wall scv, and '1" for my first scouting scv. I also normally use "3" as my natural, but I didn't for no particular reason this game.
- I had no plan beyond my second factory. Alright, I sacked his first expo. So far, so good. But beyond that, I really didn't build another factory or two. If my opponent forces me into killing an expo instead of his natural, I rarely win because beyond the initial push, I don't have a plan.
- Did not do enough scanning. Could've seen the mutas way earlier.

Here's what I thought I did alright:
+ I knew he had scouted my gas (I didn't react to his earlier-than-normal drone, that wasn't good.), and transitioned to a point after I saw hydras. Instead of a third fact, more barracks-es may have been appropriate, but I handled the hydras fairly well.
+ I thought I used my first push fairly well, can't say whether I would've held off a counter attack, but probably.
+ One really gosu-mine placement.

I've usually used the wall-in thread, but obviously, I keep building a refnery... and dying. Different sources, point taken.

I just like the little Terran symbol... It really doesn't make a difference.

Practice is really the only way you'll improve vs Zerg if you struggle with bio.

Might want to take a step backwards and actually figure what you should be aiming for in each matchup though. The 'Terran vs X' guides/timing articles on Liquipedia should give you a general idea of each MU, like knowing when to push in TvP etc

At D level, when I offrace as terran I found that 3 fac vulture was the answer, with hiding one fac from their scouting. 2 fac seems to only work on rampless maps, or when proxied.

It's hard to get to D+ with 80 apm, but it's definitely doable. Just from glancing at your replay, it's an issue of hotkeys as to why you're so slow. Hotkey your facs/rax and comsat and combat groups, it's hard to macro at all without doing this.

Read a lot of the strategy forum, and watch a lot of replays. Pick a few maps and learn them very well. Pick a few solid BOs and use them alot.

I got to C- (barely xD) on my first season this way. Now, i'm practicing 12 nex vs terran and losing all the time... haha.

If you'd like, feel free to add my iCCup id (yoden-ohio).
